This group will be on the spot Saturday after facing two running offenses. Can McGee continue to look like a future NFL corner? Will Finnie follow up his kamikaze performance last week against a team that will test his cover skills? Is this Tracy Howard's breakout game?

A lot of questions about this group will be answered.

This game is very dangerous. If everyone remembers how our zone got chewed up against BC, well NC State will attack I think in the same way with better athletes. Coach D better have these guys ready to roll otherwise this screams let down...

I'm more worried about our pass rush, or lack there of. You can only expect a db to be able to cover a guy for so long. If the QB has time to make and eat a sandwich in the pocket he is bound to find holes in the coverage.

They have to find a way to bring pressure or it is going to get ugly.

This. I think it'd be unfair to judge our corners in this defense without an adequate pass rush. Nobody can lock down a zone for 6-7 seconds every play... That said, the guy I'm gonna play close attention to this game is Deon Bush.

This. After a while a db will lose track of the receiver no matter how good the db may be. The line has to get the qb to throw when he's not quite ready.

I don't think we will see as much zone as the BC game. Big difference with the Frosh between this game and that game.

If we get even an ounce of pressure on the QB, I have no doubt the corners keep up with them. They should be more confident now and the safety play is starting to improve.

Secondary play in general will continue to be under the microscope until the front four emerge as a pressure producing unit.

over/under amount of plays it will take for NCST to run a slant behind our LB buzzing to the flats to cover grass with no receiver in area?

How cool would it be to get 2 or 3 picks on Glennon? He's definitely vulnerable, and our guys have the burst to get there, unlike the last three teams they've played. So, yeah, pass rush is important, but I agree with D$ that this is the chance for our CBs to shine.

i think its more of a scheme issue. i dont want to play zone and have guys 10-15 yards off the ball. if so, they are going to throw for 400 yards. lets play tight, mix in some blitzes and get to the QB, especially in the 2nd half when they are tired

Something tells me though, we could be in for a long D'onforio bend but dont break day... uggh

Collectively, this is the best receiving corps we've faced all year.

BC was missing their starting TE and best WR and still managed to shred our pass defense. What makes us believe we are ready to defend NC State's passing attack?

Our defense was unable to maintain consistent pressure on BC's QB. So, what makes us think we can consistently pressure Glennon?

K-State, BCC and GT did not test our secondary. Those 3 starting QBs are marginal, at best (in terms of passing the football). So, why is it that some on this Board expect to win or play better? Blind optimism?

No se. Color me worried.

I really hope you're right.

I'm not expecting a huge difference but we have to consider that the BC game was almost like a try-out for these guys. Keep it simple and see who is really ready for game situations. We have already seen a lot of shuffling so I am just hoping this means Coach D will be comfortable being a bit more aggressive now that some trust has been established.

this is game 5. i've seen the D get better at times during the last few games. while not consistent, they have improved. with respect to defending the pass, i would expect for them to perform better than they did at BC.

This is a game where D'onofrio will need to get creative. Not sure we have the experience to do that. Expect to see McCord a lot.
