If you’re a high school athlete trying to earn an athletic scholarship, you should know **** well that the NCAA requires minimum GPA in “core classes”. Every single coach knows this and should be pounding it into their players’ heads. The problem is, it’s a floating scale with SAT minimums. If you have a high enough core GPA, your minimum SAT score is lower. If you have a lower core GPA, you can still get in if your test scores are high enough. This is where kids get into trouble.
