a review of this past weekends Showtime card...

That Figueroa/Magsayo fight was brutal to watch. Between the Magsayo arm bars and taking knees it was f'n nuts. The ref waited far too long for the first point deduction and should have warned, and then taken another, for what became boxing flopping (in addition to the second holding point deduction). I think Magsayo is better than this, but I'll never watch him again.

Seriously, taking knees or flopping at the higher level of pro boxing? Seriously?! Who does that, who trains that, and who the **** allows that in the ring?

Plus it made me wonder where Figueroa is as a fighter. I understand they want to round his game and protect him from himself but, when he was trying to work outside, he over-thought everything. I think he just is what we've always seen. And that's entertaining, but got a very short shelf life.

Im with you, if you voluntarily take a knee -- that should be a knockdown

Harrison vs Tszyu 3/12
Benevidez vs Plant 3/25
Anthony johsua 4/1
Shakur 4/8
Tank vs Ryan 4/22
Vergil vs Stanionis 4/29
Inoue vs Fulton 5/7
Teo vs Taylor 6/10
Loma vs Haney TBD**

There are other smaller but still good fights in between that I didn’t list but man this is a really good year for boxing. Would be great if we got a couple top heavyweight matchups like wilder/ortiz or usyk/fury, also bud spence would make it a ***** all time great year but ill take this kinda schedule every year im ***** hyped. Hopefully these fights parlay into bigger and better matchups for the 2nd half of the year and 2024

Btw, add Naavrette vs Valdez to that list. Fight should had already happened but Valdez got hurt. No reason it doesn't happen in 2023. Someone might leave on a stretcher after that fight.

There are some, on paper, mismatches there, but there are some really interesting fights, for a variety of different reasons. My problem is that the structure is now to put interesting fights on PPV. Not great fights, but interesting fights. And that is killing boxing.

Predictions on Plant DB? KO for DB?

Have to think so. But I think its PPV. If so, not paying for it. Another interesting fight, but not worth $75+.

But if Broner...BRONER?... can find a PPV platform, guess I'm just screwed.
Go watch it somewhere or of course go the streaming route. Ill stream the Tszyu fight. Speaking of, I assume Charlo gets him next. He's not losing to Harrison.

I thought Tszyu was only going to 154 temporarily. You think this is permanent?

Also, this exactly what I mean by an interesting fight. I'll watch it, but I'd never pay for it.

They were supposed to fight originally but Charlo got hurt.

I remember that, I just had it in my head that the plan was for him to be at 147. But I now think I only thought that because of the Horn fight, which was really just an Aussie thing, and he's naturally at 154.

Agreed, some of these aren’t ppv level fights

I like plant to win, think he’s the better boxer and will win a majority decision . Big fan of benavidez tho but i think this matchup can give him problems, even tho he always has a punchers chance lol

Lol since inoue/fulton is made i care lesser and lesser about this fight. Would still love to see it of course its the best fight out there but man im sick of all the run around lol
