great podcast. Can't wait to see what they do with Ring magazine. I used to go get every new addition at a magazine stand in Hialeah when I was a kid. **** shame I didn't save them, but I'll be signing up for these. And the thought of a true "Ring Champion" is very exciting! Maybe he can make it so prestigious that it finally brings all these fighters together! These kids avoiding each other is destroying the game..

This is a close fight, if u asked me a year or two ago id say boots easily but now i say it can go either way..If i had to pick id say boots very close, like split decision close
Boots by murder. One fight with an awkward Ukrainian doesn’t change my opinion of him.

He has the type of talent to overwhelm anyone but he gotta sharpen up some things before he dominates other guys close to his level imo

boxing is a funny sport in which the best most technical fighter in the world can have a very hard time with a fighter just because their rhythm throws them off or their stance creates an awkward angle that throws them off. Just look at Floyd when he fought Jose Luis Castillo, a fight he clearly lost, but vs a fighter he was clearly far superior than in every technical aspect. You saw it with Mosley and Vernon Forest, Floyd vs Maidana, Bud vs Madrimov and now with Boots.

I think its typically common with Eastern European fighters which are more technically sound (zero hitch in punches) than Americans and they have an awkward rhythm and style many times. Although they don't move their heads well, they have a much better ability at pairing pushes which is also frustrating and awkward. It feels like your punches are sufocated and you can't get off which further messes with your own rhythm.

“Rhythm is everything in boxing. Every move you make starts with your heart, and that’s in rhythm or you’re in trouble. Your rhythm should set the pace of the fight. If it does, then you penetrate your opponent’s rhythm. You make him fight your fight, and that’s what boxing is all about.”

Id agree if this was a one time thing with boots but he has some serious footwork issues and bad habits that he gets away with because he’s a great athlete. A fighter that talented shouldn’t get hit as much as he does no matter what style he is facing

Might seem that way but he’s actually baiting others and taking calculated risks to set up his offense. And as far as his footwork, it’s pretty elite, not Shakur level but **** close
