The Canes hire Hawai'i GM Keiki Misipeka

We should recruit Ilona Maher looks like an edge rusher to me
That woman would get it. Seems like a cool chick and is in amazing shape. Fun times to be had.
Nah - she's an H-Back. Kyle Juszczyk 2.0.
Wouldn’t be shocked if she ended up as an intern with some NFL franchise after rugby ends. Football is starting to look more and more like rugby and teams are trying to leverage that knowledge.

Respectfully dmoney this is bs. Best players in the world per capita just sounds good to type

A poly pipeline is just overrated fan ****. We lacked kids with intangibles because we would just look over kids with clear red flags that has nothing to do with a poly connection.

And you keep going to that malaita example, thats typical Miami fan cope to look for an outlier to try and make something make sense. Lets be the top team in trying to find outliers who never played football before lol
It's not an outlier or overrated though, and at the end of the day, Mario isn't hiring a Samoan only to build a pipeline. He's hiring people that he thinks can do the job they're being hired for while also seeking to fill his staff with at least one Poly staff member. I think it's something he's grown to value as a coach since he was in the Pac12 and saw a number of Poly players out West

OL/DL Pipeline, Baby! Many years ago, Bethel College in the NAIA's KCAC hired a HC from Cali who was Samoan. He brought in a bunch of of Samoan kids and won their conference. My son played there a few years later and they had a few including a great FB who taught and led them in their pre-game Haka:

We should soooooo do this. Make it a Cane [international] thing!

If the Malaita example is too left field, what about the best returning player on our team right now?
I believe mario and mirabal are respected enough as oline coaches to be in it and land any top olineman we want

And if we are making hires to get a few players every other year then that just proves my point even more

The example dmoney used was an outlier

I want us to hire the best people no matter what connection they have. And i especially dont think we should be hiring people for something as scarce as a poly connection man…At least joe was a proven dline coach, this dude was at Hawaii and Missouri southern

SouFloriDuh Polys are the best football players in the world per capita…

Malaita the modern day Ed Reed 2 star story…under this theory we should have hired someone from the WWE scouting department…

Mahalo!

Getting someone from Hawaii university to be a GM for a poly connection and rugby players? Are we serious? This seems like a mediocre hire
He's being brought in to be a Poly connection and help with recruiting internationally. It's not like he's being handed the keys to the entire recruiting operation. Just a piece of the puzzle. Not to mention the guy has worked his way up the ranks, from high school coaching, to college, to NFL involvement.

With the move to 105 coming I’d imagine they’d want to maybe take a few chances on some international players who they wouldn’t have otherwise to try and develop. He can help there I’d assume.

My dude, plenty of things to rightfully complain about within this program right now but this isn’t one of them lol. He is one small piece of a puzzle. This is about relationships and connections, nothing more and nothing less. There is literally zero downside to bringing him on. It aint that big of a deal.

For real, this dude acting like we just hired him to be the DC. Like dam bruh, we can have as many off field staff member as we want, why you mad about landing this guy?

This Elk dude taking a giant fckin L to his reputation in this thread.

Mario deserves credit for having the awareness to keep a staff member to have a poly connection instead of just letting it die with Joe leaving. It's a smart move.
