What’s with all the Auburn fear? Lol. We might battle those guys head to head for 1-2 prospects a year MAYBE. ****..Franklin is the only one this cycle. Lew was last cycle. Let’s not get too carried away here.
Not saying Miami should be scared of them but they'll be battling for way more than that just like they always have. The last few years were an anomaly with Harsin because he sucked at recruiting and he still got like 3-4 key guys Mario wanted.

For those individuals 'reserving judgement' and all that 'cautious optimism', remember that Henry Parrish was our RB last season.

Mario delivered a bigger and more talented roster with depth; "Night and Day" from last season and I expect the results to mirror that.

So Henry Parrish was the only RB at the beginning of camp last year?

We absolutely heard “Night and Day” comparisons at the beginning of camp last season from the previous season.

People are reserving judgment to see how it plays out on the field, in hopes that the results don’t mirror last year’s

It’s strange that being cautiously optimistic is being railed against…

Can’t ignore the infusion of talent we got everywhere but DT and even then Deen is very good. That said, you are 100% correct. Last year the defense was labeled as so much better and a strength. There were concerns about WRs but as long as TVD was there we were going to be fine.

Enjoyed the write up D$, much appreciated.

We’re like a battered ex-wife that’s expecting to always get hit, so I understand the general feel that “no chance” with Simmons etc……I said it before he announced his Top 3 that “stranger things have happened”…..no insider, just a gut feel, but I’d keep an eye on that one as it has the feel of the Mauigoa recruitment last year.

We haven’t been able to get in Texas, and if we pull essentially the #1 player from Texas, it will send shockwaves throughout that state and more Texas players will be open to playing in Miami.

It will be an outdoors road trip with the family. We are hitting Olympic, Mt. Ranier, North Cascades, couple nights in Steheken and San Juan Islands.

You will love San Juan Islands. Great family trip! Go see them whales (I’m sure you built this in your itinerary)

I think that’s right. The infusion of talent and change in coordinators are reasons for optimism.

Last year, the spring game and gaps in the roster are reasons for caution.

Part of the wait and see approach is in we really don’t know what we have until we play another team.

There’s a lot of potential to be excited coming into the season, but last year was like a free fall ride of disappointment, and I don’t think cautious optimism needs to be the blood bath battle the board makes it into.

Yup, the other problem last year which still may apply here was that camp reports overrated the infusion of transfer talent. I’d like to think that it was pure hopium on last year’s transfer group as a majority were meh on paper. This year’s group looks much much better on paper but you never know. I still think we have major questions at DT and WR. We improved there but not enough(DT) and still have a ton of question marks(WR).

Who is railing at being cautiously optimistic?

Pearson in this thread is quoting wait and see and cautious optimism and “reminding” people.

There are other threads with individuals going pretty hard against the concept. I am not a receipts person, so I’m not going down that route.

I think there is a lot to be optimistic about as we head through camp toward the start of the season and having a wait and see or cautiously optimistic approach is fairly positive.

You must have a different definition of “railing” than I do.

Pearson is just opining that the facts on the ground lead him to believe that there is reason to be more than cautiously optimistic, due to a greater infusion of talent than last year..

Personally, I believe cautious optimism is warranted, at least for me, mainly due to a 5-7 hangover, and inevitable transition issues with a completely revamped coaching staff at the top.

But nobody is ”railing”. Just people expressing their opinions that they are more than cautiously optimistic.

FYI - definition of rail(ing) - intransitive verb: to revile or scold in harsh, insolent, or abusive language

Samson needing to get stronger was stuff pre summer and if he's one of the players that's made the biggest jump during the summer, he should be the LT moving forward. Let him get his reps with the 1s now, let him get the reps vs Miami (OH), and when TAMU comes in, offense can always line up Cam McCormick next to Samson if they feel the need to lend help. And by the time we'll see the next REAL defense on our schedule, it'll be Clemson which is 4 games a bye week after TAMU.

This is not because I don't trust Rivers at LT (I'm wary) but are we sure Anez Cooper is ready to be the starting RG?

When Vegas starts to think we're a good team that's when I'll start to believe were a good team. They think we stink unfortunately.
