Big hitter, the Lama.
I thought he was gonna stiff me, but then he said, "On National Letter of Intent day, you will receive full enlightenment." So we got that going for us.
Big hitter, the Lama.
- The hottest name on the board is Stranahan WR Hykeem Williams. It's still a battle, but Miami has more positive momentum here than they've had in a while. He is a major priority and is viewed internally as a difference-maker.
- As of today, I expect Malik Bryant (Orlando) to commit to Miami on July 23rd and give Cristobal another Top 50 player.
- OL Samson Okunlola (Brockton, MA) remains the jewel of the entire class. I like where Miami sits and could see this one getting resolved in July. Olaus Alinen (Finland) has been all over Miami on social media and we feel good. He is someone who seems to appreciate the attention of the fanbase, so those who post on social media should keep it coming. I continue to expect Tommy Kinsler (Ocala) in the class, even with his pushed back announcement date. He is considered a big-time talent internally. Payton Kirkland (Orlando) and Monroe Freeling (Mt. Pleasant, SC) remain major targets and there is traction with both. I expect us to land the top OL class in the country.
- There has been Florida buzz on WR Andy Jean (Northwestern), but I continue to expect him in this class and possibly sooner than later. Williams and Jean would wrap up a spectacular WR class for the Canes.
- WR William Fowles (Dade Christian) is heating up and just had an eye-opening weekend at the TuTu Atwell 7on7 tournament. The coaching staff is intrigued. I saw him in-person at the Under Armour Camp and thought he was the most impressive guy there.
- Ohio State is making a hard run at S Jayden Bonsu (Hillside, NJ) but I still like Miami there. He can play safety or striker- elite body type, very smart, versatile, physical and mature with a great background. He reminds me of a much more violent Gilbert Frierson.
- S Joenel Aguero (Lynn, MA ) is going to be a seesaw battle until the end. It would be ideal to get him back to Miami for the July cookout.
- There are a bunch of kids named Jordan Hall in this class, but DT Jordan "Big Baby" Hall (Jacksonville) is the name to watch for the Canes. That will be a tough one with Georgia heavily involved.
- As we mentioned in the Bank last week, LB Raul "Popo" Aguirre has been trending to Miami. His commitment gives the Canes what one source described as "the perfect LB for the Cristobal era." He is a throwback with passion, intelligence and a love of contact. He can also run and has seen snaps on offense.
- I mentioned IMG CB Desmond Ricks as a '24 target to watch last week. The local guys to watch are Chaminade WRs JoJo Trader and Jeremiah Smith. They are at the top of the overall board and were described as the Pied Pipers of their class. They are close with recent 2024 Dillard CB commit Antoine Jackson, and that trio can lead a local movement if they can jump on board early.
- Class size is very much subject to change right now. It can be anywhere from 26 to 32. We are in play for a ton of priority targets and we haven't even started winning yet. It is also hard to predict attrition. The staff believes that even more major names can jump in the boat if the season goes well.
- Two '22 names that have made an early impression: WRs Isaiah Horton and Colbie Young. Multiple sources have commented on Horton's upside, calling him special. I saw him myself on Sunday and he is every bit of 6'3-6'4. Young's dimensions have been called "freakish." Disclaimer: it is still extremely early and we will know much more when camp starts, but the early returns are good.
Those guys and the Nate Webster’s of the world sort of jump out at you. I hope we always have room for guys like those Miami legends. So no more Jonathan Vilmas or Denzel Perrymans. Got it.
We are gonna take special players no matter the size. We gonna a have big DTs to stop them getting pushed by Guards then we gonna have other backers beside them thata huge. Wesley is not a big guy. We just not gonna have 3 safety size LBs on the field with undersized DL makes no senseSo no more Jonathan Vilmas or Denzel Perrymans. Got it.
Seems like it’ll be NSD or later in the year. Seems to keep things close to the chest.Do we have any information Nycholes Harbor? He put us in his top 7 recently but I haven’t heard anything regarding his recruitment
omg.. this is the first time I've noticed the t-bone with t-blows face tat on his arm. never really could see it before. I'm even more mentally depreciated for it.
Denzel Perryman at one poine on the Golden plan weighed in at 250 pounds...no lie.So no more Jonathan Vilmas or Denzel Perrymans. Got it.

Mario played with Rohan so my guess is he can spot them and make it happen.
That said, having larger humans is not a bad thing. As Ed Vedder so eloquently put it…. “It’s evolution baby!”
I saw Vilma routinely on campus. He came in at 205 and was about 215 in 2001, may have left at 220. Bulked up for the draft.Denzel Perryman at one poine on the Golden plan weighed in at 250 pounds...no lie.
Jon Vilma was like 6'1 220+
We have guys currently playing lb at 195-205. When we landed AveryHuff he came into Um probably about 185-190 tops and I know him personally.
Aint nothing wrong with getting the typical UM lb with growth potential...which is anywhere between 5'11- 6'2 205-210 in my opinion as an incoming backer. But this current group needs size badly which is why POPO Aguirre is perfect as he will be coming in at 6'1 225-230 at a minimum as a freshman. Malik Bryant same thing if we land him.
Yeah man Perryman was ****** HUGEDenzel Perryman at one poine on the Golden plan weighed in at 250 pounds...no lie.

Yea I'm sure every coach would prefer prototype DJ Williams types, but sometimes three measurables aren't perfect. Those guys and the Nate Webster’s of the world sort of jump out at you. I hope we always have room for guys like those Miami legends.

We are Miami fanatics. We know what a Miami linebacker looks like and it is not always a giant.Yea I'm sure every coach would prefer prototype DJ Williams types, but sometimes three measurables aren't perfect.
Bissainthe is in the Spence mode. But has a nicestrong frame like Spence. We are Miami fanatics. We know what a Miami linebacker looks like and it is not always a giant.
@gogeta4 replied and stated it will not be an issue with the staff.
He also mentioned Bisanthe, I have never watched him play but it would be cool if he was that type of kid. Gogeta has watched him so now I am looking forward to watching him play.
Sean Spence was a kid who you just loved having. He was probably my size and I am no giant.
That is cool. I don’t get too excited about kids coming in until they start getting game reps. You see these kids all the time so you would know.Bissainthe is in the Spence mode. But has a nicestrong frame like Spence.
Bissainthe is what you draw up in your typical "undersized um lb" him and Chase Smith. I can pick out a "UM LINEBACKER" withing 5-10 plays nad hated seeing those types play elsewhere throughout the years.
I was a 5'10 220 linebacker & we're getting unjustly lambasted for the sins of Corey FlaggNo more 5’11 217 pound Lbs
And how did any of them pan out. That class had no depth at all. That #1 DT miss more games than he play. When he did play like a 3*. That class was just all LB and WRYou mean besides the #1 rated dt in the country and the #2 player in the state and a high 4 star right? Other than those two no big time players in the trenches...
I rather have a top 5-10 class with depth at every position than to have a #1 class and half the class is WR, and LBsIf only they had listened to you they would have known that #1 class was no good
Too bad
