The Bank (11/19)

Teams today just recruit top players and cross their fingers they develop. If not they portal you out. Coaching is overrated.
Overrated is overstated. Talented players hopefully are getting the fundamentals at the youngest stages thru HS. I know that’s a big ask, but if they have them then it’s repetition and muscle memory. Good coaches teach the nuances of their positions. For example, Coach Beard has helped talented receivers learn the nuances of cuts and separation. We see that on the field. A good QB coach can improve a kid from good, to very good and maybe great. Coaching counts, if the kid is coachable. That’s where recruiting comes in.

Not talking about recruiting, talking about on-field-results. People on here connect both.

All I want people to have is realistic expectations about recruiting.

Or you can go nuts and post booty gifs till the servers collapse. That's also appreciated.

This is a recruit update on the recruiting board of this forum and you want to not talk about recruiting? There are plenty of other threads on this site for you to ***** and moan about X’s and O’s

I never said this. Please read my posts again.

Not necessarily that they're pushing him out, but they're not going to lose sleep if he leaves.

Its not what people want to hear, but the best LBs in the nation aren't knocking down the door to come play in this scheme.

Guys we "flip" from the bigger schools are more likely to end up as over-rated.
You do know Alford is ranked just outside the top 100 at 106 in the composite right? And the #11 overall LB

We had a pretty good wr haul last year I thought with Trader, Carr, and Robinson...
This is what some fans don’t realize, it has to be every year! We have to get out of the thinking that just because we did good last year this year we can take a break from it, that’s a losers mentality and doesn’t work if you want to win. We have to close on top guys this year too.

Oh you better believe LANE is taking Billy behind the old woodshed. LOL
I was actually surprised to look at Ole Miss schedule and see how narrowly they're actually beating teams. Not really scoring that many points aside from their Furman, MTSU, and GA Southern games.

17 against Kentucky, 27 against South Carolina, 26 against LSU, 26 against Oklahoma.

Then a 63 point explosion against Arkansas. Hope they hit their offensive stride this week and lay another 50 burger.

The prospect of playing one “big” game — maybe — at home in a **** conference is a hurdle that is becoming almost impossible to overcome. Our gameday experience sucks ***. That will not change unless and until we move to B10 or SEC. Doesn’t matter who is coaching us or how much NIL $ we offer.

Agreed. Miami really needs to get to one of the other conferences ASAP

Not D$, but Merrit is gone and Upshaw is going to stick.

Appreciate your response. The writing on the wall has been looking bad for Merritt, but I was holding out some hope because it's a place where clear need meets talent. Oh well...

Very happy to hear Upshaw is sticking, though. He looks legit.

I'll give you South Carolina but Kentucky is like 70th in yards per play allowed and Oklahoma is in the 40s in points allowed and they've got an excellent draw of SEC teams that aren't very good on offense like Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri, plus they played Houston, Temple, and Maine. I don't hold them in very high regard.

Mario def flips more then he gets fliipped from but there have been some highly rated notable losses. Rashada, Connor Lew, Cormani, Kevin Riley, come to mind. Some of those losses have been blessings (cormani) but some have set us back like Lew. I think every program gets players poached but Mario does a good job overall of keeping the guys committed. Can’t think of many coaches who do a better job, maybe Sark at Texas
cormani is trash. he and Rashada were a mess in recruiting.
Kevin Riley had no choice. they were going to get his pops out of jail for him.

every area the only sec teams competing for titles is UGA and Bama even though we are told it's Ole Miss year, Tennessee year, etc.
It's a top heavy league. for christ sake, mizzou went there and became competitive.

not worried about recruiting. mario is proven himself everywhere at this part of the game.

also not buying the UF stuff.
UF is kindly allowing these dudes to drive the number up.

Not saying they won't get 1 if a kid plays too much chicken with Texas or Oregon but I don't see this turning into some Alabama class.

I'll throw Ole Miss and Texas into the top category for sure but everyone is flawed like the others. Texas hasn't proven anything to anyone. Ole Miss lost to Kentucky.

The middle layers of each conference and the bottom tiers of each conference play each other and sit around .500 H2H. ACC/SEC/B1G included. No conference is any deeper top to bottom than the next. Cal beat Auburn, UNC beat Minnesota, Vandy beat VT, Missouri barely help on against BC, etc.

It's all flawed.
