What you're bender out of shape about is different than recruiting updates.

But hey, do you booboo
It's not. I've explained why. People get overly excited for these updates, it raises expectations and then everything collapses and people get upset. Doesn't help when these updates are always written in the most positive manner possible.

Merely telling people to temper expectations about recruiting and these updates is apparently now being "out of shape", despite me holding that view for over a year now. The bigger fish is when players actually hold their commitment and attend the university (see Cormani) and then contribute and develop their potential fully (see the 1000 examples who didn't do that prior).

But hey, if you like rollercoasters, not stopping you.

You cannot overspend on a recruit. You pay what the recruit is worth to you. It’s like beauty in the eyes of the beholder.
Yes, you absolutely can overspend on a recruit the same way you can absolutely draft a NFL player way too early.

I don't have one. I'm merely trying to temper the hype that always results with these updates.

People get overly excited, their expectations rise and then we lose and everything crashes down and people get unspeakably angry. Rinse and repeat. (me included)

I'm too lazy to click the "continue reading" on here for ****

whats the word. We ****** or gettin ****ed?

Agreed.

Different topic for a different day (and ultimately a fascinating case study down the road), but recruiting is transitioning to $$ and less “recruiting”; hence, I’m not really sure how much of an advantage having a recruiter as an HC is anymore compared to the X’s and O’s guys. We will see, I have no lean right now in that regard. It’s almost like the recruiter has been relegated to the tiebreaker, when the money is equal or close to it. Without the money, the recruiting is secondary.

Just a completely different age of football.
This has been my opinion all along, we hired Mario right before this all changed which is unfortunate but we just have to hope for the best. He still cant scheme for **** and doesn’t appear to be very good at hiring coordinators which is a huge issue....but he's more open to change than I thought at least.

Being a recruiter is still helpful but it's moved way down in importance imo.

When rebuilding a program, recruiting, thru HS players or portal is very important. And, Mario is very good at both. Two words define his abilities , CAM WARD. DC/OC picks are imported as is their ability to scheme. But, those aspects are fixable or changeable. You F**k up with recruiting, it sets your program back, sometimes years. Just look at FSU. We are still a work in progress and continue to layering talent on talent is tantamount to our success, But so is coaching, again fixable and changeable. Just sayin’🙌🏽

What are you talking about? Do you think recruits signed with Meyer, Kelly, Saban, Smart, Fisher and Swinney because of their winning personalities?

It was cold, hard cash in an era when nobody else could pay (at least to the same degree) without getting sanctions from the NCAA.

Being a recruiter now matters more than anything - you're going to get paid regardless. It's about finding the right fit for you - a staff / location that you vibe with. Cristobal's honest approach is going to continue to win him a lot of recruiting battles.

Agreed! Money has evened the playing field to make it where any team with a few million to spend can get an audience with the kid and their family.

When the money is within reason, The difference comes down to the best recruiter.

Side note:

I really would love to see this list of magical X’s and O’s gooroos CIS is always raving about.

And their career win pct + championships won to support these claims that we’d better off with them.

Teams today just recruit top players and cross their fingers they develop. If not they portal you out. Coaching is overrated.

I'd argue that makes coaching even more valuable. Imagine spending loads of resources to attract talent that you can't develop. Quickest way to getting fired (hello mr. norvell).

The prospect of playing one “big” game — maybe — at home in a **** conference is a hurdle that is becoming almost impossible to overcome. Our gameday experience sucks ***. That will not change unless and until we move to B10 or SEC. Doesn’t matter who is coaching us or how much NIL $ we offer.

He still has a job and his talent sucks. Plus he's supposed to be a good x and o's guy 🤔
