The Bank (11/13)

So r u projecting all of them to return lol...I think there's no way coleman or verse come back for them. Verse already risked that once
Nah, all of them are gone tbh… Im just saying these aren’t Dalvin Cook, Mario Edwards/Jermaine Johnson talents..these players aren’t that good. If Norvell can actually develop (which we’ll see) he will have far more talented players coming in this class and next…

Mario gotta get his *** in high gear.

This is a tough time for Miami on the field but recruiting never stops. Some updates on various key targets:

- Things continue to move in a very positive direction with Louisville commit DE Cole McConathy (Mobile, AL). Like Markel Bell, who committed last week, McConathy was first identified in the Bank as a major Miami target. I like our momentum there.

- CB Xavier Lucas (American Heritage) is another name first reported in the Bank that is beginning to pick up steam. There are several schools (like FSU) trying to flip him from Wisconsin, but Miami is in the best position.

- Miami continues to build momentum with Ohio State commit RB Jordan Lyle (St. Thomas). I don't know if the recruitment is as advanced with Lyle as the other two, but Miami is making very good progress.

- With Jimbo Fisher fired at Texas A&M, OL Isendre "Papa" Ahfua is firmly back in the picture. Expect the Canes to make a run there.

- Miami is very happy with the senior progress of QB Judd Anderson (Macon, GA). A source had a simple answer when asked about his season: "Stud." With that said, I expect Miami to aggressively pursue a high-level transfer QB to pair with Anderson.

- Anything can happen in recruiting, but there is not a lot of concern about TE Elija Lofton (Las Vegas) right now. He is considered internally to be one of the most versatile players in the nation.

- Status quo with CB Zavier Mincey (Daytona Beach). Miami likes their position but it's a long time until the Army AA game, when he announces.

- The staff was very encouraged by what they saw from CB Damari Brown and CB Jadais Richard in the FSU game. While they will still pursue impact players at CB, there seems to be less desperation at that position in terms of the Portal. Daryl Porter, Brown and Richard all project as starter-caliber and they like Robert Stafford. However, expect an extremely aggressive pursuit of the safety position.

- Alex Donno mentioned this on the podcast, and I've been able to confirm: Booker Pickett will be playing linebacker at Miami. This does not mean he won't rush the passer, as LBs Francisco Mauigoia, Wesley Bissainthe and KJ Cloyd have combined for 10.5 sacks between them. But they would rather him focus on being a versatile player than bulking up to play EDGE.

- I can see Miami looking to get bigger at DE in the Portal, even with big DEs like Reuben Bain and Akeem Mesidor coming back.
man it must be bad
we now doing what manny did and turning small edge guys in lbs

Only James needs to stay. Kam is best off going. Can't really improve his draft stock at this point. I don't agree with the 1st rounder talk but definitely see 2nd round with Kam.
Yes, especially after that scary injury he had a few weeks back. There's no way he's staying. Time for lil bruh to go bag chasing.

Accurate imo. Both are attainable, mostly based on what happens on the field the next two weeks.

If we play on offense like we have five of the last six weeks, you’re looking at the latter.

Louisville presents an opportunity to stop the bleeding, or send this season/class into cardiac arrest. Let’s hope we get the good TVD and the run defense holds up.

To finish 8-4, I’d let TVD call his own plays at this point…

I’d bet on Lee returning. Cohen? Feel like he might go, this was a business decision to come here.
I think Lee stays. He loves Mario and Mirabal and talks about how this was the best decision he's made in life. Give him a nice NIL bump and let him enjoy another year of growth. Seems like he likes college ball.

@DMoney if you had to rank what you think our level of urgency in the portal this offseason will be in terms of position group on a scale of 1-10

QB:
WR:
TE:
DE:
DT:
CB:
S:

Not going to include OL or RB because we bring back a ton of talent next year so I assume there won't be a ton of urgency there

I think they all should come back because they have stuff to work on but when kiper is projecting you to be a top 5 player at the position how can you argue that? He has Kinchens, Taylor, JW, Cohen and Lee all ranked top 5 in their position group with kinchens and LT #1...I guess my question is more what are these analysts seeing in them to put them so high? Is it the raw talent and assumption what they good be with NFL development or is this a super weak draft class..
That's all miierda. Not wat ur saying but the projections. I mean seriously would anyone that actually watches the Canes take LT in the 1st 3 rounds. Gerald Willis had a legit grown *** man year, LT has never looked like Willis caliber to me.

I know this is said about a lot, but I really believe LT and Kam can make another jump if they come back. I'm not sure either are 1st round picks with their play this season.

Would make me feel a lot better about the prospect of next year's team if we could somehow convince them to come back. Even if it is just LT that comes back. I think we are still a year away from where we want to be in terms of depth along the inside of the DL. If we can get LT back, that would be a significant development.

I mean when you watch LT play this season, does it jump off screen first round pick!?

He still needs more strength and some good weight IMO. Honestly he looks more like a 3-4 DE that scheme to me body type wise.

Also in regards to FSU class, it's skill heavy for sure. QB, RB, WR, DB.
They have 2 top composite 247 trench players in Blount and and OL. Coming off last years class where they signed 2 top 247 composite trench players also. That's 4 total over 2 classes.

So, they better portal the trenches.

Miami has 8 total 247 composite trench players over the same amount of time not including Markel Bell the top JUCO OL, and a guy like Tommie Kinsler.

Im sorry but CB is not the position that cost us games. Every position need to be upgraded but to act like we are trotting out walk ons is just ridiculous. I was encouraged in what i saw in the guys who started saturday.

And safety is absolutely need whether Kam or James come back. And yall saying they going 3rd day, they are not. Compare them to the other safeties in the country and they are right up there and thats what matters to teams who need safeties. What are the options?

The way yall talking about the CBs is the way yall hammer on all season about needing and 330 pound DT. If Guidry sees progress from players, i'll trust him at his word as to where the priorities should be. He earned that on the field

Miami needs multiple safeties in the portal. Or multiple CB so they can move a current CB to safety. I think Kam and Williams leave along with LT. I see Cohen leaving. Not sure on rivers or kiko. They may decide to run it back.

Oh I agree, he hasn't shown the consistency for anything resembling a first round pick this year. It would be in his best interest to come back another year but we haven't really had Miami players do the smart thing like that in a while it feels like. Hoping he has someone smart in his corner advising him. Come back for last year, get his degree and improve the stock enough to go high.

I really hope we can return Rivers and Kiko and Lee. Kam and JW are gone imo and LT too but I doubt they go higher then a day 2 pick. We really should try to bring back everyone who can return as no one has solidified themselves as top picks.
