Why does everyone put the Texas job at the top? I live a mile from UT and understand they have the money, recruiting and facilities but their prestige as a program now is not where it used to be. They only have 4 National Title's and have the arrogance that they have double digits over their program history like a ND or Bama. Sure it has the potential to be a great job if run properly but their track record overall not just as of late doesn't add up to the hype of the gig. Curious to see what y'all think

It's all about money these days! I saw it somewhere recently (my neighbor went there and is a huge fan), that UT athletics made somewhere around 179M this yr and the next closest school was like 126M. All anyone cares about anymore is making a dollar. So I guess since they have the most money, the most revenue, best facilities, and best boosters they meet the criteria of having a top notch program.

I live in dallas so about 3.5 hours away. I use to love in Atlanta which is around the same distance to tuscolusa and Texas fans have nothing on Alabama fans in terms of arrogance.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. its ALL about the $$$

Of all the football crazy states in the South, Texas has the most money because of the Oil. So its like an Alabama, or Tennessee, or LSU, but with 10 times the population, and 100 times the money.

Texas has every ingredient - and in most cases more than everyone else - needed to win big: money, facilities, alumni, recruiting base, No. 1 university in state, tradition . . . own TV network.

You answered your own question. It's a sleeping giant.

The issue with texas is the BS a head coach has to go thru....Strong can win at any team in CFB I feel, but at Texas he will struggle with the BS surrounding him 24/7 which includes his wife etc....

Mack Brown could never concentrate on Football 24/7 or shut off the boosters...Saban and Miles etc...made it clear when they went to LSU/BAMA, clear the roads and let me do what I do best, you worry about the boosters and kissing babies etc

JJ always said his success at Miami was being left alone to do his job...

Al is doing what Mac brown was doing...selling and selling the brand that really does not need to be sold,

I'll give Strong this much he parlayed a great QB into a great gig for himself. He was 14-12 prior to TB coming on board, he got out while the gettin' was good.
I'll be interested to see how he does at Texas.

strong built his team around the 2011 class becuase he cleaned house when shannon got fired. he will probably lose his job in a manner like willingham. hate to say it but he is black and it's texas. Personally, i think when urban left, he deserved a shot.

Man I'm from Birmingham and the only thing that can match obnoxious Alabama fans is obnoxious Auburn fans when they are winning. The reason is because there are no pro sports teams to draw some of the fanticism.

can you blame the Ala fans, given Saban's run, not to mention their storied history?
