That’s true but can Mario not see 5 steps ahead in these rooms and anticipate ****? I mean, do we really need to wait until spring to realize the DL and LB are mid? It’s clearly not good enough to me but I hope I’m wrong..You must be new… we only fix one issue at a time around here.

LB I'm hesitant on saying FIX, BUT I could get there. We have youth WE WANT taking over the position. DL I flat out disagree. Wouldn't mind another only for the sake of depth. But it's just like lb where we have dogs we want playing. At a certain point if everyone is gonna nag about recruiting, were just gonna have to let them play. Only way to truly develop someone is on game days. Practice is great for baby steps and refinement. But it's the lights that let us see what someone really is.
Where is this narrative that the Dline isnt good coming from. We got Bain (first rounder next year), Scott (5 star), Blount (Top 40 recruit), Lightfoot (Top 30 recruit), Mcconathy (underrated), Pickett (top 150 recruit), Lowe (5 star), Bryant, Mesidor(proven) and Blay (top 50 portal recruit). There is a lot of talent in that room.
I wish I was where you’re at with Moten and Horton. I just don’t buy the hype with those guys. I’m all for playing the young guns if I knew we had killers starting.
So what's your solution, just keep getting guys in the portal every year and then let this kids leave? What's the point of recruiting high school players if you don't even get them reps lol. God people on this board are so beyond slow
If the portal is going to upgrade your rooms then why not? The elite program’s do it because it’s a no brainer. Load up. Don’t like it? Then bye.
Moten I actually do believe in. PARTIALLY. From a disruptive standpoint, he's got a nice tool box he digs into. When it relates to him playing the run that's an entirely different subject. LONG way to go. He's so caught up with getting up field that he consistently loses gap integrity. Horton I love his hand placement and his footwork. He shows well on Greentree. Lil else. For me I feel a lot better about the line because my concern last year related almost entirely to youth & needing time to develop. I think Scott , Blount & Jones are ready to step up in a pretty big way. I like the addition of Blay & just wanna see more of his leadership traits kick in. At LB I like Popo & Love Hayes. I also love THE POTENTIAL of Bobby & I know we're planning a role for him this year assuming he does stay(which I think he will). We have some nice potential at the position. We do need more established talent in my eyes. Wouldn't mind if one was a starter. But bringing in another starter at the position may be playing with fire.
What portal Wrs have Hartline and OSU added over the last few years. They put first rounders in the NFL every year. How many of Osu's dlineman were portal additions this season? Lets look at Georgia, who acquired one Portal Dlineman in 2024 and zero in 2023. Alabama got zero portal Dlineman in the 2022,2023 2024 class. Look at how much NFL talent they've lost at that position over the last few years. If you want an elite Dline, you acquire elite high school talent, which we've done the last few classes.

We don't need 3 DB coaches just have one more hire at D-line and LB

True but the staff is responsible for that, at the end. Do we really need to continue seeing Wes, Harris, Powell, etc taking playing time when they’re getting smoked?
I guess they were worse than the above mentioned in practice
