I never once viewed Seantrel or Porter as leaders of this team. Shayon was a hard working guy who overcame some serious injury problems. Also, I don't believe Shayon said it was his team ... I believe Gilbert said that in an interview?

Real leaders reveal themselves upon leading others through adversity and to victory....

We haven't had any proven leaders on this team in over a decade.

I am however cautiously optimistic that we might have some on this team.

You know we are trying to psyche ourselves out of reality when we create threads to bash kids who gave their all... We don't have any leaders until they prove it on the field... It's funny how Henderson and Porter are garbage when Al went out his way to give these kids a press conference announcing their return... No coache does that for "thrash" players...
 
Right now the true leaders on the team are Duke and Denzel. You could tell the team really fell apart once Duke went down last season. Both are true Canes and have played at a high level. Chickillo might have the leadership qualities like firing the guys up but his play sure hasn't backed up his mouth. Guys like Flowers and Howard seem like guys who might make the big step in leadership this year. Really need a leader on the D-Line and QB.

I don't believe the problem is Chick himself. I'm not saying he is some elite stud, but I just don't feel he's being used in a way that maximizes his skill set. He's basically asked to sit back and wait for the run to his side and it's been discussed ad nauseum about how he has gotten beyond slow with how much he has bulked up. Seriously, how do you get worse in 3 years from the time you showed up on campus?

"Over a decade"…so no real leaders since when, 2002, or where are we starting? Please don't embarrass yourself.
 
No first or 2nd rounders the past few years has been the problem not leadership. Any player that puts on the pads and helmet has guts probably something the OP doesn't have.
