Team Captains

Jaquan is a true definition of a football player, and I'll never question his heart, his passion, his knowledge of the game.

That being said, his lack of length poses problems at times... He is capable of being in position, and yet, can get outplayed by both a long receiver and/or a big bodied tight end that knows how to leverage length/space properly, to create pockets/windows for the ball, wherein Jaquan is unable to defend, due to his lack of length.

I do admire the kids toughness, in that he will come up and meet a guy with force, before the ball carrier breaks out of the tackle box. ...But he seems to duck a bit in open space, when having to deal with a bigger back... His shoe string efforts in those instances isn't pretty at all.

Might not be the prototypical Safety, but hey this is college, and passion can do alot for you; he has that!

Still captain worthy, because of his leadership qualities, so I can go for it.

IMO jaquan is overrated by this fanbase. Cane great? Don't think so. I think he can be a solid player bit he is no game changer

I agree, Think he can change that this year though

A player can get better, but greatness doesn't just appear one season. If he were one of the greats we'd have seen it already. That said, there's a huge potential for him to have a really good year, and I'm excited to see what he does.

McGahee disagrees with you. He showed greatness in his one season as a featured back. Did very little up to that point.

Jaquan is good player a will play a good and important role this year but he isn't a cane great... he's been a special teamer and second string safety. I feel like the term "cane great" is used too often. A cane great is ed reed, Sean T, and many more but you can't just throw that term around on players.

Hate to burst your bubble, but going into his junior year Ed Reed was far from the player he became. There was a lot of negativity thrown his way in 1999. Way more than JJ has gotten.

Still a good player. Freshman All-American and Second Team All-Big East his sophomore season. He took a huge jump in 2000 and became an intercepting machine. Unbelievable junior and senior seasons.

I expect Johnson to have a break out season. He'll be playing his natural position.

Until he does more on this level he is right there with where Anthony Reddick was at this stage of his career. (pre helmet launch) Hoping and expecting a better result from Mr. Jaquan.

Edgerrin James is another. Sometimes greatness has to wait their turn while learning and growing. The "grown man strength" you get between 19 & 22 can't always be measured in the weight room.

McGahee wasn't on the field much before that. As you may recall, there were some decent guys in front of him hogging all the playing time. If JJ is one of the greats, I wonder why it hasn't shown yet?

Offense: Walton
Defense: Jaquan
Specials: Berrios

how intimidating is that?!?!?
