Wonder if this case cold draw the attention of the NCAA like the PSU child rape case? The NCAA saw that PSU was trying to cover up child rape to save their football program. LOL at the coincident that Florida State president Eric Barron took that job at Penn State today.

The University failed it's title 9 obligations. That puts it's ability to get FEDERAL money at risk. The University is guilty even if Winston is innocent. As a tax paying citizen, I hope they burn for this. Federal legislation put in place to protect citizens is not a joke. Florida STATE University was grossly incompetent and will ultimately be held accountable.

How is this a university issue?

. After consulting a friend, she reported the incident to university police, who in turn notified Tallahassee police because the incident occurred off-campus.
The controversial letter, known colloquially as the "Dear Colleague" letter, states that it is the responsibility of institutions of higher education "to take immediate and effective steps to end sexual harassment and sexual violence." The letter illustrates multiple examples of Title IX requirements as they relate to sexual violence, and makes clear that, should an institution fail to fulfill its responsibilities under Title IX, the Department of Education can impose a fine and potentially deny further institutional access to federal funds.

What are a school’s obligations under Title IX regarding sexual violence?

Once a school knows or reasonably should know of possible sexual violence, it must take immediate and appropriate action to investigate or otherwise determine what occurred.
If sexual violence has occurred, a school must take prompt and effective steps to end the sexual violence, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects, whether or not the sexual violence is the subject of a criminal investigation.
A school must take steps to protect the complainant as necessary, including interim steps taken prior to the final outcome of the investigation.
A school must provide a grievance procedure for students to file complaints of *** discrimination, including complaints of sexual violence. These procedures must include an equal opportunity for both parties to present witnesses and other evidence and the same appeal rights.
A school’s grievance procedures must use the preponderance of the evidence standard to resolve complaints of *** discrimination.
A school must notify both parties of the outcome of the complaint.

THEY DID NONE OF THE FEDERALLY MANDATED ABOVE. NONE OF IT! The Federal Government doesn't give a **** about Florida STATE University football. They do care about gross incompetence and law braking.

The University waited over a year to address the issue and only did so after TMZ reported it. They covered it up to protect a football player. FAIL

How do you know they did none of this? Id like to see your facts proving FSU did none of what you listed above. Send links please and not your opinion about what you think may have happened.

The article said the girl told university police who in turn told Tallahassee PD because the incident happened off campus. I'm still not sure how this is a university issue so long as they didn't take their time in notifying Tallahassee PD.

So when Famous Rapist has to give his tainted Heisman back, do the criminoles have to return the NC trophy? By the way, does the Heisman organization need to be investigated? It sure seems every one who wins lately has cloud of scandal associated with them-- unless they are from Bama, who has NSA covering their crap.

Noles were dirty cheaters under St Bobby and have not changed. Maybe them and Rapist deserve benefit of the doubt, BUT if it walks like a duck, quakes like a duck, and is seen in the company of other ducks, if **** well probably is a DUCK. Think for a minute, for a year, Famous Rapist was at least under investigation ( he had him a high profile defense attorney) and not a word leak out? Nay, there was no cover up going on. This case is a tweener -- between OSU and PSU. Worse the OSU and not as bad as PSU, but closer because nobody got raped at OSU.

If what we think we know is true, FSU will settle, Winston will settle, and Tallahassee PD will settle. Obviously it's a terrible situation for the woman, but there could be a nice pay day for her at the end of this.

A complete investigation by the university must be conducted independently of whatever police investigation.as it involves students of that university.

FSU shouldn't have washed their hands just by the simple act of notifying TPD. The girl has a very strong case. Hence, why the top attorney in these type of lawsuits took on the case.

For some reason, many people here think that once the university reported the incident to the police then their responsibility ends right there. Wrong.

Also, whoever said Rapeis Squinston deserved it, clearly didn't see other teams play. He's good, great even, but not better than other alternatives last year. Under pressure he falters, even UF got to him.

That said, I wouldn't mind watching FSU and that team get buried. I might make time in my schedule to watch it happen.

I'm not sure how long these cases can drag on, or typically drag on, but who wants to bet that nothing gets resolved until after football season?

And where is this information that FSU hasnt done this? Are you making this assumption because you havent read about it in the media?

There is no information , because it wasn't done. It was never reported in the media because it wasn't done Campus police didn't follow through and FSU's attorney statement indicates such.
