Talented Freshmen who flash

Here’s a thought - go see your doctor and ask for help with your low T situation. If that doesn’t pan out, just continue along your current path to transitioning to a woman. Clearly you’ve got the hormones headed the right way.

For the previous 2 seasons no one mentioned Duhvelopment.



Now we are winning and ppl are complaining that we aren’t dependent on freshman and sophomores…



Which wouldn’t that point to development that a kid fresh out of high school can’t come onto your team and win the job without being anything less than an almost generational talent from day 1?



There isn’t a single team projected to make the playoffs that is relying on more than 2-4 sophs and maybe 1 freshman to play a lot of snaps for them.



Yet Mario is “trash at developing” but Sark and Lane are amazing now

There is a segment amongst most fanbases that seem to be almost rooting against their team so that they can do the "I TOLD YA SO" thing when something goes awry and we are no different. Guess what? Every team every year has something go awry and, save the undefeated season teams, everyone loses at least once. God forbid these people accept that. I get annoyed with the "fans" that come out of the woodwork 10 games into the season to NOW point out all the flaws on the team. I get it, we suck at defense. It's the reason why we likely won't hoist the NC trophy at the end of the year. But I'm not going to compile a list of players from the last 15+ years who didn't become hall of famers, point to it and say "Look, we don't develop guys." I didn't see Greg Rousseau or Jaelan Phillips on that list. You know why? Because it didn't fit the narrative. I could go on and on but I think I have enough...for now.

I mentioned there were exceptions in my post. Phillips and Rousseau weren’t the only ones. Philip Dorsett was one as well. Middling programs can produce the occasional first rounder too.

We’ve been a very flawed program for two decades now and talent development issues are a part of the reason.

I also mentioned I’m enjoying the season and have gone to the games. The Va tech game in particular, stressful as it was, was a blast to go to. Insane environment.

I think it’s a tell when posters reflexively get defensive over substantive criticism.

Let’s hope Bain and OJ don’t fall through the cracks and get coached up and don’t just end up as flash in the pan guys.

Ad hominems are a red flag.

That was a pretty tame post to be triggered by and one that in no way could be construed as a personal attack

I for one am having a good time this season.

I’ll be there for Wake.

That and Kiko Mouigoa who somehow “flashed” as a freshman here despite not being on our team.

OP was so desperate to make a point, he just made up a list of guys to make it seem like this is an actual issue.

I mean Duke Johnson? The all time leading rusher in UM history despite only playing here for three seasons? He flashed as a freshman and just fell off, huh?

I made sure to qualify my post as not only pertaining to freshmen but underclassmen as well but I guess the headline is what seems to be getting folks in a tizzy.

The list wasn’t meant to convey they all underwent the same trajectories. There was a pretty wide range and varying degrees of output with all and again this was addressed in the post.

Te’Cory in particular peaked in 2020 showcasing quite the reel for a young buck at the time. Plenty of fans here wanted to see more of him.

The 2021 2022 and 2023 seasons were largely forgettable in comparison for him.

It’s the word soup, diluted with weak examples to try to prove a point that has nothing to do with the current regime coupled with the timing.

Was it ad hominem or did someone take what I said personally?

I mean, it’s clearly evident where your headspace is at. My recommendation is seeking those sort of outlets elsewhere but that’s just me.

I apologize this conversation didn’t go the way you had hoped but it’s probably not a good thing for you to be adopting a victim mentality and claiming you were gaslit. That seems to be fashionable these days for folks online.
