Talent maybe a reason why UM continues to struggle.

I really dont understand why people think we have the talent Louisville has. UL was CLEARLY a much more talented team. People dont realize just how bad a shape we are in, ESPECIALLY among our upperclassmen.

Look, there is NO question we got out coached. Fact is Charlie Strong is a **** good coach, and one of the best defensive minds in the game. He also has a very deep, experienced and talented team, that he's built up just the way he wants it. UL lost one game this year, because of ONE bad quarter of football. This team spanked a top 5 UF team in a BCS bowl last year, and would have been back in a BCS bowl this year if not for one bad quarter of football. Bridgewater is one of the best and most experienced QBs in the country.

Look at what we had by comparison. Our DC really cant hold Strong's jock. We have maybe 2 guys on defense that could start for UL. On offense, our OC is a FIRST year OC, and doesnt have a lot of play calling experience as it is. We also have one of the worst QBs we have ever had, NO quality running game, and an inconsistent OL. To be honest, a big part of me expected we were going to get slapped around by UL. Anyone who saw the way we played late in the season should have expected it. I DID hope our offense would perform better, but the poor OL play, and lack of a viable running game, really got us in a hole we never were able to get going. Fact is, we p*ssed away at least 1 TD, and at least another scoring opportunity. If we cash those in, this game is 36 -23 or so, and much more respectable. And that's despite having played terrible.

We CLEARLY missed Duke, and Waters. Duke was a huge part of our offense, and we have not been the same since his injury. We are relying on a true Frosh, who frankly is good, and has a lot of potential, but is not some kind of dominator at this point, and a converted DB, whose made some plays for us, but is small, inconsistent, and obviously not great blocking in the backfield.

Next year, will be a TOTALLY different story IMO. Having Duke, and Yearby in the backfield gives us a VERY viable running game. Hopefully some smart and efficient QB play lets us move the chains and move the ball down the field. Huertelou, Wyche, Pierre, Moore, and maybe even Jenkins and Valentine are going to provide some real improvement on the DL IMO. LB will remain a question mark, but I think our secondary will be better too.

We still won 9 games this year. I think we can do better next year. This will be a very young and talented team. Clearly our coaching needs a lot of work, and hopefully Golden will upgrade it, but our talent level was NOT on par with UL, not right now. Seriously, our talent is a sh*t show among upperclassmen.

It is clear we do not have the talent Louisville has. And it is not close.

And we won 9 games, but could have only been 6 very easily. UF, UNC and Wake gave us those 3 games and Pitt played awful against us. We are a very mediocre team and that is it. Need better player evaluation, better coaches, but we will be OK because we are getting new uniforms next year.

It was very obvious that UL was the better team. Anybody choosing to see it differently, needs to get their eyes and football I.Q. checked.

Dude, who gives a sh*t? Guy took the time to make a valid post about out current state of affairs and you're worried about some middle school rep sh*t.!? Please. Can we can we focus on the topic?

Been covered ad nauseam. Was Duke more talented? Good coaches adjust based on their personal.

Golden & Co. still pushing their ***** *** defensive philosophy regardless of giving up a 1/4 mile every ******* game.

Randy Shannon was a total complete failure, awful HC. I also don't think he is as respected in the college football coaching circle as a lot of people think. Despite fielding top defenses the best job he can get after 3 years is Arky's LBs coach. The market tells you how people view you.

All that said, in his 4 years as HC:

07: 33rd in defense
08: 26th
09: 29th
10: 22nd

Look at those defenses, they weren't all that talented.

The way this staff handles the defense, from top to bottom is among the worst coaching jobs that I've ever seen. Defense with the talent we can recruit isn't rocket science.

Why I give a **** is this guy was lifting information from this site and others, and pasting as his own work without giving credit to the author or the site. He never owned up to it, and changed his username because of it. Then has the balls to say, yeah, its me again.

I don't give two rats asses about rep, but I will tell you that **** sits wrong with me. Give credit to your source (if known), don't copy and paste information from one site to another. Even say, TOS has or whatever.

There is some major history on this one.

This same excuse? Bro wake and duke would have killed for those "talentless" classes!!

It's coaching talent gets you so far but it's the coaches very well paid job to put them in the best position to succeed instead we have coaches and fans blaming players!!

Bro facking buffalo this year was taking it to the ohio state did they have better elite talent or a facking coach who put his players in positions to succeed

With guys like Duke, Dorsett, Waters being out our talent level becomes worse then that of the teams we lost against

There is no doubt that our talent in the upper classes is limited.
Our top threat offensively has been a freshman the last two years. Our best players on defense have been freshmen or sophomores. We have had Duke and Coley and Burns and Bush (hurt Soph year) and AQM. Perryman has been consistent for his three years. That's it. There have been glimpses of greatness by others, but not enough consistency to label them difference makers or major contributors. Next year we will still need to depend on freshmen to fill our lack of talent. The year after we will still need to play a lot freshman. I know Golden is taking the high road and thanking the Seniors for sticking with the program when others left early or bailed, but none of these guys were consistent difference makers. Add the fact that we have struggled to have vocal leaders in this program the last six or seven years and you have a simple explanation for what the **** is going on at Miami. I can honestly look back at this season and say there were three players that left me in awe a couple of times, 1) Duke 2) Coley and 3) O'Donnell. That's it.

in 3 years on defense, not one senior developed yet mccord is learning a new position and making plays, tracy and denzel are all conference, crawford and gunter have improved, pierre is better than anyone thought he would be. the coaches can develop talent, if you notice they only blitz with aqm, mccord, or bush, there is a reason for that.

Another way to look at it.

UM signed 83 players between 2010 and 2012 recruiting classes

Of the 83 players signed only about 33 made major contributions.

There are two types of talent. One is “Winning Talent” which is talent that can win ball games which is your typical 9 and 8 wins seasons. While this talent is good enough to win ball games and the occasional upset it never is a real threat to challenge for a championship.

The other kind of talent is “Championship Talent”. This talent competes for championships each year. These teams are usually within one game of playing for the title or in the title each year.

Most of the players who were in those classes were 3 star athletes. So in reality they probably played to the level they were projected coming out of high school. Gambling or betting on 3 star athletes to mature into high impact players who are capable of consistently competing at the highest level amongst their peers is not a way to build a program that have goals of winning titles.

Where are the Santana Mosses, Reggie Wayne’s, Andre Johnson’s, Roscoe Parish’s, Kellen Winslow’s,

Where are the Nate Websters, Ed Reeds, DJ Williams, Wilforks, Rocky McIntosh’s ,Sean Taylors

I don’t see this amongst our current roster in abundance.

We must do a better job of recruiting S. Florida. We look like a Penn State team. I don't see the speed and athleticism
