Talent and defense

Listen to (read) what the man is saying about schematics. He has a point.

We do stuff on defense that makes little to no sense schematically.

Are we void of talent at some spots? Yes. But that doesn't explain offensive players being wide open and us not having a defender anywhere near him to contest. That doesn't explain Nick O'Leary standing in the flats by himself without a defender in site. (then he catches the ball and runs over Howard for 3 yards to result in a 1st down)

Talent has nothing to do with us stunting our DT's to the outside and giving up contain cause we not have a slow *** DT holding the edge.

Talent has nothing to do with the fact that our LB's stand there and stare at the QB while there's a WR standing right next to them.

We slanted our DE inside and had nobody to hold contain, on Winston's right side of all places, and he just scrambled right for a first down uncontested.

Schematically there are holes all throughout this defense and anybody who doesn't see it is just being naive or doesn't know what to look for.

Yeah....I'm sure our Defensive scheme just leave's "zones" wide open. I ******* Guarantee our defense is "sound" schematically. Now do we have some blown gaps and coverages. Yes, we need to get that fixed. Our LB's aren't very good in coverage and lack solid instinct. For you to come on here week in and week out and blast the scheme as being "unsound" is ******* insulting.

You're a ******* nobody. You don't know the D calls, blown assignments, game plan, access to coaches film (endzone view). Do we maybe need to coach the kids up better.....yes. However, the fact you come on here acting like you're Bill Belichick every week gets old.

This ******' guy thinks that ALL defenses are completely sound. Like all DC's are perfect and the difference between a good one and a bad one is simply having players who execute.

That's exactly why Bama is always good on defense. Their players are just smarter and better than everybody else's and it has nothing to do with sound principles. It has nothing to do with the fact that their coaches teach sound principles and their DC refuses to get beat with leverage and alignments.

*****, step up to the plate and come with some substance and stop being a little cheerleading hoe. Take your ******' pom-poms off and let's talk schematics.

You sit and talk with authority on **** you have no ******* clue on. It's easy to sit and be an armchair critic hoe when a play breaks down. Fact: You don't have a clue what the kids were asked to do on any given particular play. On television we can only see about 1/2 of the play developing. If we had the playcalls and coaches film.....I'd be glad to get into a discussion on scheme. We don't have those tools at our disposal.

You obviously had your head in your *** on numerous plays last night and against Wake when the players were clearly in position to make the plays and simply wiffed on the tackles. I've got 10 years of high school coaching experience as well and yes I understand "schematics".

I don't need the ******' coaches film. I'm looking at "all 22" shots on youtube right now and can see WTF we're doing. I don't need to know the ******' play call either. It's not ******' rocket science. On most plays you can decipher who's responsible for what areas if you know anything about football. If we rush 3 and drop 8 or play Quarters coverage I know for a fact that our Outside LB is responsible for flats.

I don't need coaches film to see that we're spot dropping and there's WR's sitting in our zone while we're stuck starring at the QB. You're gonna tell me that's on the players? We've been doing that **** since D'Onofrio got here. You're gonna tell me that Gaines and Perryman still don't know how to play zone defense?

Watch FSU's first drive of the game and check out Perryman get abused on pass coverage cause he's starring at the QB. You're gonna tell me that's a lack of talent or that Perryman doesn't know how to play coverage? He's a ******' upperclassman.

I got one play for you two to break down. The screen play where Devonta Freeman scored a TD. Explain that play to me. Was there someone supposed to cover him if he flared out or what. Did they get block. Cause all i saw was him behind 3 blockers and DL chasing from behind.

only a blind man didn't see the size difference last night of fsu's defense compared to ours. we are not as big and strong not to mention not as talented. we are two years away from the team we need to have to compete with the elite programs. blown coverage plays or other mistakes happen even to the great teams. I don't care about the freeman play for that reason. how about every third down play? that is where we were dominated by their size and strength.

Believe we loaded other side and blitzed, leaving FSU's left side completely open and nobody home.

Herbie splained it. Good play call at the exact right time.

Without re-looking at the film, we were in man coverage.....linebacker responsibility. Right rush end didn't read screen, prob. should have peeled. We got caught in a blitz. Some say we shouldn't have blitzed out of a timeout. I'll re-look at the play.

And why weren't we dominated by their size and talent on first and second down. We Forced alot of third down. You have no explanation for the Freeman play. Their was no one in the neighborhood to cover him......just in case he flared out. No one got block, or slipped. There was just no one there. Talent....there was no one there. And that was coming off a timeout where Jimbo saw the blitz and changed the play.....we still ran the same ****. we need some talent in the coaching booth not just on the field. So yes it is talent.

Yeah that's why they completed countless 3rd & long conversions. LOL

The scheme might be sound (and Shannon's might have been as well), but it feels like if one dude does something wrong on these defenses, the whole defense falls apart like a house of cards. It's kind of mind boggling.

I just re-watched. From what I could see we didn't "show" blitz prior to the timeout....so I'm not quite sure what everyone is talking about there. Blitzed all LB's.....so no man coverage from them. Like I said previous....maybe the OLB who rushed should have peeled off and didn't.

This we were in a vanilla look before time out. Herbstet is the worst when it comes to providing analyst.

He called line stunts blitzes

Actually Shannon defense was sound as ****. That was definitely condition and size. We got gased alot and couldn't perform in the critical moments or in the 4th qtr. We led the country in TFL in Shannon's last season, was first in total defense and second in total offense in the ACC. They were badly conditioned and prepare for what to expect. Shannon scheme wasn't all this complicated stuff. 90% of the time, it was mostly man coverage, Lots of 1 deep and 2 man under coverages....which also made us liable to get gashed by running QBs. You know when Shannon was here we never had a total defense worst than 35th. Shannon sucked as a head coach and the recruiting totally fell off but his defenses were fine. Players were not motivated and badly condition and thats on him. He was just not HC material.

Maybe......thats a problem

Already gave you the explanation. According to the analyst, Herbie, FSU called the right play to the correct side as we blitzed from the other. They made the right call, UM made the wrong call. It happens.

You have an agenda. Your agenda is to pretend we could have beaten FSU or Bama with the talent we have, if only we had better coaches. And you are dead wrong. Could better coaches get more out of this bunch? Possibly, but Golden got them to 7-1. Even Saban took a few years, and his cupboard was not bare and he did not have the NCAA up his ****.

Really?

I hope UM has learned a very hard lesson. They tried to save money and made horrible decisions that are impacting the program. No need to mention the obvious, but better days ahead for the U. Golden is 2 classes away from getting miami back to elite status.

I call it like i se it,you guys want to only compare us to FSU and its obvious they are furthur along than we are, but then when its on the other foot and we have more talent than the opposition but still getting gashed on defense, you attack people who question that. Its obvious we dont have the talent to match FSU right now, but where is WF super talent, where is GT super talent, where is BC super talent...nowhere to be found. They have all managed to gash us.....and Duke as well.

Don't know what you ***s are in here arguing about, but I came here to say one thing.

Our starting 2014 LBs will be monsters. Armbrister, Kirby, Fig will be 245-250.

Next year....we heard that....last year. They will still be covering grass. Our team is quite big as it is. What they need to know is to stop a team on third down, how to stop a simple flare route by a RB or a drag by a TE from going for 20 yards on 3rd and 8.
