Takeaways from the 2024 Class

Out of teams with 3+ Top 50 DLineman:

Miami: 5 Top 50. 4.7973 Pts for 0.9595 Average rating: Justin Scott, Armondo Blount, Marquise Lightfoot, Artavius Jones, Booker Pickett

Auburn: 3 Top 50. 2.8698 Pts for 0.9566 Average rating: Amaris Williams, Jamonta Waller, Joseph Phillips

A&M: 3 Top 50. 2.8623 Pts for 0.9541 Average rating: Dominick McKinley, Dealyn Evans, Solomon Williams

UGA: 4 Top 5. 3.7976 Pts for 0.9494 Average rating: Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, Jordan Thomas, Nasir Johnson, Justin Greene

Ole Miss: 3 Top 50. 2.8183 Pts for 0.9394 Average rating: Kamarion Franklin, Kamron Beavers, Jeffery Rush

So yeah we had the best DL class in the country.

In case you were wondering how this stacks up to A&M's 2022 DL Class: They had 7 Top 50 (4 of top 5!!). 6.8936 Pts for 0.9848 Average rating.... just absurd. Even more absurd is they combined for 7.5 sacks, 11.5 TFLS, and 44 Tackles for A&M this year....

Rueben Bain had 7.5 sacks, 9.5 TFLS, and 20 Tackles by himself this year.
Great breakdown @calinative umstudent

Just goes to show you, you have to do more than just get the talent in. You HAVE to coach it up. Considering who we have coaching the DL, I have no worries here at all. Our DL is going to be insanely good the next few years. I'm talking lights out, multiple 1st rounders.

Now, to get an O with a bit more of a pulse.

And Miami is still looking for top DL talent in the portal.. both lines will be dominant with the 23 class going into their sophomore season. Scary.

Biggest takeaway for me is none of our skill players have verified numbers being reported.

I remember Josh Pate doing a segment, saying who would he take Lincoln Riley at USC or Cristobal at Miami, he stated short term he’d take Riley, he thinks USC heats up quick like a microwave, and not necessarily die out quick but not built for the long hall. He said in the long run 5 plus years from now he’s taking Mario at Miami, he wouldn’t be surprised if Mario is competing for multiple championships in the future at Miami

I'm actually working on an article that touches on this

I’ve said this before, but we’ve got to be patient with Mario. He is on the right track. Gaffes and poor decision making notwithstanding, the man can recruit and will have this team talent-wise in position to compete with anyone.

We beat Clemson by making the statement that we are just as physical as they are. And that spoke volumes to Dabo and company. They can see the landscape shifting.

We need one more strong class with an elite QB to stack with 23 and 24, then we will be in that elite tier.

Get 10 wins in 2024 then 2025 is our year.

Another important revelation that really puts into perspective Cristobal's tour de force recruiting is this:

"Since Mario Cristobal’s arrival in Coral Gables, Miami’s recruiting has reached new heights. The Hurricanes have secured 13 top-100 recruits, with ten of these coming in the two full recruiting cycles. To put this into perspective from 2017-2021 the Canes added just 14 top-100 players in a five cycle span."
Awesome stuff. I put this in another thread but I started comparing top 250 recruits in tiers over the Richt/Diaz/Cristobal eras as well as his time at Oregon back when people were questioning whether we were getting what we paid for with Cristobal, and it’s jarring to look at.

But I was told we always had all this talent smh
We had the talent relative to our schedule. There are levels to this ****, and we have moved up a couple levels but I refuse to believe that we couldn’t consistently win 9 with our schedule the past couple of decades.

Yeah but here’s my thing if you recruit a 4 star undersized linemen yeah he’s a 4 star and maybe the kid is quick but he gets overpowered against Virginia or NC st..is he really that talented?

22 shouldn’t even count tbh. He had a month to recruit that class. I get you want to do 3 yrs for each. But after next year 22 will be the outlier for a reason
