What exactly is your point OP? That you "told us so" 3 years ago? And are chiming in again to say the 2 most discussed candidates for the job are not slam dunks? And your solution is.... Nothing?!?!?Few years ago I called the hiring of Manny political ode to the community of SFLA insiders. As a alum I Knew right after the UF game he’d fizzle. Signs were apparent.
Now here we are. To quickly summarize:
If Miami wants to be MIAMI, hiring Cristobal will offer nothing more than turning Miami in a bling out version of UGA during Richt years. (Specifically 2003-2011).
You’ll have some great prospects roll through and a few games per season and during postseason that scream we are back but we’ll never reach that pinnacle and it’ll end in Mario either bolting prematurely (like he always has in his past) or being forced out due to it going stale.
Only example we needed to see regarding Mario being the guy is the fact that in two classes he has had GENERATIONAL players at QB/DE (two most important positions on the field) in Herbert & Kayvon along with a elite guy in Justin Flowe and Oregon has wet the bed losing by 30+ when it came time to push the money to the middle and go to the bank (being the CFB). And he didn’t wet the bed in the Sec or even a Clemson pumped ACC but rather a watered down and dry Pac-12 that is suffering with USC being basically a Westcoast version of us and no Clemson around.
Cristobal understands our past at least: And that’s wonderful but he won’t be the guy to deliver what we want. He never has in his past, and he never will. Herbert was held back by his offensive coaching and I also think Thidobeaux/Oregon was this year as well.
Regarding Lane, his past also speaks to what he seeks, a quick bridge back to the NFL. He won’t hang around long enough to see through the VAST reclamation Miami needs. Though I do trust his ABILITY to maximize our QB versus Mario. I have no doubt TVD would become a top 10 pick with Lane and be maxed out. But I also believe his past shows he will neglect all the little needed aspects of football to win big and Miami will also be nothing more than a high flying Off/team that is violate and gets spanked by the tougher/disciplined forces of FSU/Clem in years we shouldn’t.
I don’t know who we should pursue or whether the guy we need even exists. I think the answer is not easy nor is the path. We literally are attempting a HALFCOURT shot to send the game into OT or hoping someone fouls on the closeout.
I run a small business and I welcome fair and constructive criticism. I look forward to hearing how we can improve. But my one and only condition: if you're gonna bring forth a situation that can be improved, then you must offer a viable solution or alternative. Otherwise, don't wet my bed.
You just wet the entire CIS bed with your juvenile peacocking and brought zero to the conversation.
Don't ever do that to anyone in any capacity of your life ever again.
You've got a problem with Mario or Lane? Fair. Offer a viable alternative. Put up or shut up.
But people like you prefer to show up in 3 years and say, "I told you so..."
