For some kids, I'm sure IMG is an escape from some.of the b.s. they go through in the neighborhood. If I was a HS players playing on a ****** team and felt like the national exposure would help me get into better schools, id sign up!

The whole IMG thing is so wack.

It's not what high school football is supposed to be about. It's a **** academy. It has none of the allure that authentic high school ball gives you. You're not even eligible for the playoffs, so you have zero interest in actually winning anything when you go there.

And if you're good enough to get a scholarship from IMG, then you're good enough to earn a college scholarship while playing at a regular school.

Coach Macho. Coach, can you post a link where I can see the video of the kid in your profile? That’s was some good stuff and I lost tha5 link. Thanks.

Never gets old.

****.. quite the shade being thrown at a school where we have a handful of commits in the next couple classes.

This board never ceases to amaze.

What does throwing shade at the school have to do with our recruits? And it's not the school I hate, it's the concept.

I consider high school football a beautiful thing. Kids grinding together for years to pursue an ultimate goal. Watching them all grow together as young men. Then you add in the feeling of being at a big rivalry game, that "Friday night lights" feelings, the whole town shutting down to come watch the game, etc. Winning that big game and walking through the hallways on Monday with all your peers giving you props. Walking into local businesses and having people congratulate you. Watching a kid physically and mentally grow up from his Freshman year, blossoming into a young man and earning a scholarship.

The whole process is just amazing to me.
That's what HS football is all about. You don't get that with IMG.

As a former high school head coach I agree I miss the watching them grow as young men part.

How about playing with the friends you grew up with? I wouldn't trade that for anything from my perspective, but I guess I didn't exactly look like Avantae in high school either.

Can't the same be said about a school like St. Thomas Aquinas? Or the high school transfer season in south Florida high school football. How many of the talented south Florida kids play all four years at the same school.

100% correct
the ship is sinking. That allure that once brought high profile recruits is now slowly disappearing

Recruits trade that for Alabama bags all the time. Why not start early if they feel it will help them get paid?

Slow Clap.

Sure, you may not win a state championship there, but along the way you might beat some state champions while earning the national title. Add in the travel to new places while competing against the best, I can see why it's for some.

This right here....IMG will recruit you from your local school...so you probably are being recruiting by college coaches as well....makes no sense to me....it does say a lot about whether a player wants to win region and/or state titles..

can't blame a kid for not taking an offer from IMG

pretty much guarantees a scholarship to college which is WAY more important than winning anything on the high school level

As stacked as STA is it's still a traditional school. IMG is strictly a business decision. You go there to get your offers and leave. At STA at least those guys are there to win a state championship with their brothers. I do understand someone going to IMG to play basketball or tennis or something but football is just a different animal. Comradery plays a big part in success. I can't imagine having to coach a group like that where you know each kid is just out there looking out for themselves trying to get an offer. State Championships are team goals, makes for a whole different type of experience.

I don't get why any of these kids go to IMG. What's the allure? Other than a fancy stadium and workout facility. I would rather be THE MAN at my local high school and live a normal life.

For a kid that's an average recruit and wants more exposure, I could see why. For a guy that's more highly coveted, I don't understand it. Not trying to knock Hightower or take shots at Dee, but I don't understand why Hightower went to IMG. He was already a known commodity and highly recruited. Him going to IMG meant **** to me because that kid's tape screamed must get at receiver to me.

I can respect that and every recruit has their own reasons. Personally ive said i wouldve rathered he went to a normal school that had foot all as a power. But in reality what img provides firat & foremost that no other school does is preperation for the next level. Nephew literally feels like hes so far taken a step backward in preperation from img. It gets u ready not only for the college mentality but physically it prepares you for everything you will see. Hate it or love it thats justa fact. Most kids go their for exposure though & to prove they can do it against the best competitors in the country. Their schedule is second to none.

So do you feel the same way about virtually every high school power house? Cause every one of them recruits their players just not on the same stage. Its a tired excuse honestly. Kids dont go to high school to be able to say this is what my team achieved look at me. Thats a bi product. From miami high back in the days, central, west, edison, gables etc. All of em take kids from outside of their region so how is it different from img?

That hasnt been top notch high school football in years though. Tae is just another example. Img or not kids transfer in & out on a regular basis for all sorts of reasons. I agree thats what used to make high school & sometimes collegiate sports far better than professional in my eyes. Its a beautiful game & the passion of it is worn on they pads. But its not the game anymore it was when we were kids. Ive got a 8th grader from jersey who works with some of my people now. Hes considered the top player for his age bracket & people are already lining up at a high school level to give him anything he needs anywhere in the country to get him on their team. Thats img be damned. Last year we had a pee wee team in california paid his old girl 5k a month & gave him & his family unlimited flights as well as boarding just to get him to fly in weekly for their pee wee games. Never even practiced with them. Halpening with my nephew right now where those aau sort of football teams from different cities & states are lining up to get him to play for them. Has offers from miami, orlando,la,atlanta, new orleans and a few more. Its all a dirty game & it starts out with the jits. Just a sad truth bruh.

Well said

High School Football is turning into what AAU Basketball has done to the High School Basketball scene. Social Media has made the bag game alive and well in terms of accessibility.

not really Alot of those kids still played optomist ball together, etc.
My loyalty in high school likely cost me better offers as i couldve went and played with Willie Williams and company that were trying to get me to transfer over at Pace.
