Tae is not hurt

People get too locked into stars for older players too much. Freshman and Sophomore year I get it, its a dude with talent, that maybe is still developing into what we hope they can be. But After year 2 it doesn't matter how many stars you had in HS, what have you actually done or are doing on the field? Honestly none of the Safeties has solidified themselves as that dude. James Williams and Kam Kinchens have show the most. Avantae is clearly in that 3rd/4th man up range. But it's not like Blades didn't have a couple solid/good years early either.

S:
James Williams - Year 2, 11 games, 22 tackles, 1 TFL, 3 PD, 3 INT.
Kinchens - Year 2, 13 games, 27 tackles, 1 TFL, 4 PD, 1 INT.

Blades - Year 5, 32 games, 50 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 13 PD, 4 INT.
Avantae - Year 3, 6 games, 15 tackles, 0 TFL, 0 PD, 1 INT.

Balom - Year 3, 5 games, 7 tackles, 0 TFL, 0 PD, 0 INT.

Putting this into perspective, Jaquan Johnson Stats:
1st+2nd Yr, 24 games, 41 tackles, 3 TFL, 1.5 Sacks, 2 PD, 2 INT, 1 FF.
3rd Yr, 13 games, 54 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 Sack, 4 PD, 4 INT, 3 FF.
Career total, 4 YR, 48 games, 139 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 2.5 Sack, 7 PD, 8 INT, 6 FF.

We need our safeties to step up.

Star:
Frierson - Year 5, 35 games, 60 tackles, 14.5 TFL, 3 Sacks, 8 PD, 2 INT.
Couch - Year 4, 27 games, 60 tackles, 4 TFL, 1.5 Sacks, 12 PD, 1 INT.
Man I miss Jaquan Johnson

If I had to take a stab at it;

Tae didnt get as many snaps as he wanted in game 1
Responded with less than ideal attitude and effort in practice
Due to poor week he only got reps on special teams
Responded with removal of UM related posts causing more drama
Mario sits down with him, clarified expectations/actions/consequences and a dose of tough love
Tae back on track, learns from it, plays this week and goes on to be an impact player for the U
CIS makes it a bigger thing than it really was
Hopefully, but not betting the house on it.

Unless there’s crazy off field stuff happening no reason Tae shouldn’t be playing over Blades

Blades has looked tentative back there, not good
Blades tweeted out after the game "We don't even play the same position." I can only assume he is referring to him and Avantae. Someone with more technical knowledge than me can confirm.

Anyways, Avantae's body language at the game was awful. There was a defensive huddle that he was the last to and then slunk off to the sidelines immediately after. He didn't look happy.

When you go from playing to not even getting a snap, that happens.. Its natural, especially when a dude who been playing safety for a couple months get snaps over you.

Would you say the same thing about the guy being paid $100 million to run A&M’s offense?
Jimbo is in year 5 at TAMU. If the money behind that $100 million want to mix it up, it is their right. Somehow I don't think Week 3 of a rebuild is quite as comparable for Mario.

top 15 roster in talent + a possible first round QB is a rebuild? interesting perspective...

Was his body language worse than Anthony Richardson’s Saturday night?

were we sitting by each other?

Most people on this board including me have never played football in thier life and have no idea about schemes and coverages but yet know everything. They know better offense and defense than our own coaches and bash 17-20 year old kids. Respect the kids and thier families. This fan base has to be the worst in sports
Well said.

Not sure if it’s been pointed out here amongst all this weird stuff in the thread but I’m pretttttyy sure Kevin Steele knows that Tae is talented

Watching James Williams moving around last game I can see a scenario where he wants to get them all on the field at the same time…if they are all capable
