Syracuse Carrier Dome

The Campus used to be such a fun place. Most of the bars are gone. Shut down by the State Liquor Authority.

The fans are a little more subdued now that the good teams of 90’s for them are long gone. There’s definitely a fraternity issue there but those punks can be handled easily.

I can’t wait to go in 24 it’s only a 2 hour drive for me and I’m getting great seats. I’ll have a big contingent w me so I’m not worried about any punks.

On a side note basketball there used to be unreal too. 33k for an old big east game vs G town Place was unreal.

Before the Carrier Dome was built Syracuse used to (1) play football in what was called Archbold Stadium (sitting on those cement ledges - they didn't have individual seats as I recall - was COLD) and (2) play basketball in what was called Manley Field House (don't know if it's still there but that was an awesome environment).
One of my favorite Syracuse tshirts had Beasts of the East on it, but after several years it ultimately disintegrated on me.

Manley is still there.

We came really close to losing that game. Torretta played like sh*t....had 3 ints if I recall. Graves almost won the game at the end. But the receiver came up 3yds short.

Hey, I love Torretta, good guy.
But in his four games vs top 10 opponents that year his offense scored a TOTAL of 4 TD’s.

Remember going there when Warren Sapp was playing for the Canes. He came out of the locker room pre-game & jogged around the field with everyone gawking at him. The place was nuts. Syracuse had the big TE then (Gedney) and the women students had a huge sign “Chris Gedney we LOVE your tight end). LOL. Fun times.

Really nice going there in the Fall when the leaves were turning & going out to Skaneatales (sp?) on the lake for lunch. Also staying at the old Hotel Syracuse downtown (think it’s been demolished).

Last game in the dome was 2002.

Miami won 49-7.

They used to play Syracuse every other year up there when both were in the Big East.

Remember, in 1998 Syracuse and Donovan McNabb beat Miami 66-13 in the dome.

Miami then went on to win the next 4 games (1999 & 2001 in Miami, 2000 and 2002 in the dome) by a combined score of 179-20.
The best part of 2002 Syracuse game was capshaw and Sean taylor capping off the blowout with a fake punt and Taylor taking it in for 6 points. I remember McGahee, Dorsey, and Andre Johnson all having good games in this one. Enjoy the memory!
