Surprised by the "life is not fair" crowd

Sure thing .......fellow Cane
- My point, which I clearly didn't nail, was why bother spending a ton of energy complaining about "facts" such as death, taxes and the fact that TV money will be the driver on how many teams the SEC gets in vs the ACC.
- I don't like taxes and not crazy about the idea of death however all the complaining in the world isnt going to change either of these facts
- I just have found that spending energy on facts that wont change ........ while it feels good for a few minutes....... is a waste of time

The more important questions I have for the Cincy poster ........
- What is your favorite Graeter's Ice cream and how do you take your Skyline ?
- Vanilla Chocolate Chip and 4 way w/ onions are the only acceptable answers

Ok. Now it makes sense.

As for Cincy…. I’m not from Cincinnati, never lived in Ohio, but did grow up in the Midwest before heading south to Coral Gables for college in the early 90’s. I actually hate Ohio. It’s an eclectic mix of meth mouths, hillbillies, judgmental and nosy folks, living in a repressed economy and in a zhitty climate. BigDikDaddy didn’t rhyme with Detroit 😉

My dad had a saying too. He called me **** for brains when I didn’t hold the flashlight right. Exactly how I feel after every season.

Ever consider the ACC and others get shafted year after year because no one says anything and no one does anything. Meanwhile the SEC is crying if they don't get 9 teams in.

First - my Dad would not let me use this phrase in his house
- And he was a UM professor, so not exactly a ball buster - but he very much thought this was a weak mindset

Second - Money talks
- The SEC and Big Ten teams will get more teams into the playoffs bc they are better conferences
- Every year - NOPE
- But generally speaking - year in and year out - they are better conferences than the ACC
- I judge that based on the money they make on TV deals vs the rest of the conference

Third - who are you adding is also an indication of the strength of your conference
- SEC picked up Texas & Oklahoma + BIG 10 Picked up Oregon, Wash & USC + We picked up Cal, Stanford & SMU (and they arent even taking TV Money)
- Guys and Gals --------come on - not even close

Finally - come to grips with reality and avoid the life is not fair complaining
- More times than not ACC will have softer schedules than Big Ten & SEC
- The trade off is we have less of a cushion on L's

Write the check

"Don't complain about life is not fair"
"Just use daddy's money to write the check"

LOL

I don't think conferences adding teams is a one-way street in which the school picks the conference. Unless you have information otherwise

SEC being valued at higher worth doesn't mean there is intrinsically higher value in the product. Saban's run at Bama and his connections to NCAA leadership likely contributed to current opinions of SEC

I don't think the issue is having a "softer schedule" the issue is Big 10 and SEC hold a disproportionate amount of sway. Now, will be interesting to see how they change their out of conference schedules, particularly the SEC

If you mean, "write the check" to join the SEC or Big 10, I think that's a horrible idea.

My- dad had a saying- never - -- trust the hy-pe from a guy - who makes - money - on -- you being - hyped ------

My opinion. SEC sees that 4 teams almost didn’t get in and still might not. They and B1G are redoing the deal in 2026. SEC and B1G will say the new deal is that we get 4 guaranteed slots each. And the deal is whatever they say it is. That has already been agreed to. 💰. ACC and B12 participation dwindles.

I used to, and still do, hear ****e like this from my grandfather, father, stepfather, and various other men I knew who spent (in some cases spend) every day *****ing about the government, prices of gas or food, amount of social security, whether baseball (MLB) was "fixed" (which would explain why the Sox couldn't win for 86 years, of course), whether every sport was fixed (except wrestling during a title match), etc., etc. Not to cast poor aspersions on the boomers or greatest generation, but they complained as much as any of us about their lot in life and when they got screwed.

This. After consecutive ***** jobs (fsu, UM), one would think a commissioner with balls would draw a line in the sand.

I honestly don’t understand why the ACC teams wouldn’t vote to disband the conference after this. There is no incentive to staying in the conference, it doesn’t protect the teams at all. And the playoffs are basically owned by espn, which is ******** one tv partner (acc) in favor of its other one (sec).

If I’m Miami, I am calling up Clemson, FSU, and other conference teams, and announcing that the ACC is going to be taking a vote to disband at the conclusion of the season and that the purpose is to terminate the GOR and allow teams to market themselves to the P2 because it is clear that after getting screwed in consecutive years, the ACC cannot compete on a level playing field, and our tv partner, espn has clearly chosen to push overrated sec teams over better ACC teams.

Even if it’s just an idle threat, it needs to be said, and might just cause espn to make a couple calls to the playoff committee and say, “Let’s turn down the temperature a bit and not ***** the ACC this year. If Clemson wins, let’s just say it shows the depth of the ACC and justified a shakeup of the last teams in. SMU will then have 2 losses. Say we compared Miami and SMUs two losses, and Miami loss to a GT team that nearly beat UGA isnt as bad as SMUs loss to a byu team that lost to Kansas. “Clemson and UM should get in. Miami-ND would be as good a tv draw as Bama-ND and we can avoid making it so obvious that it is all rigged.”
