Has our DL regressed under Simpson or is the talent so much inferior than last year thought?

Personally think Simpson was a better DT coach and the Stroud was a better End coach. Due to Ends being more talented in 2020 than 2021 it looked like Simpson wasn't performing.

Eh outside of Gerald Willis and LT(5*'s) no other DT looked good. I would attribute that to the players and not the coach. Even JHH looked mediocre this year and he was expected to be next.

Agreed. That's my point. I think the Ends have have had way more talent. He gets the most out of the DTs but Ends aren't his forte. I think he could make a great Dt coach somewhere in a split responsibility situation. Strouds better with Ends but also had the luxury of more talent.
