Different circumstances. In the eyes of administration, Golden guided the program "through the cloud", posted 9 wins this season, and is pulling in a potentially top 10 recruiting class (albeit that remains to be seen). Right, wrong, or otherwise, he will get a pass next year regardless of record. The only wildcard here could be the PSU fiasco. If he rustled some jimmies by not following procedure then he might already have a strike against him, but I wouldn't count on it. 2015 is when he'll be on the hot seat, IMO.

When you give up as much yardage and points that we regularly give up, it is a miracle to win that many games year in and year out. It takes a Duke Johnson to compensate. We may not win only 5 but I don't see anything over 7 next year.

Unfortunately yes. I think the team will quit, so you'll see a 2006ish or 2010ish season out of the squad. I also see a defense that is about the same as last year's. I wish I had more confidence I also do not see us beating Nebraska, as they are regularly a 9-10 win team, and we all know our record under Golden against teams with 8 or more wins. So I see us with guaranteed losses to VT, Louisville, FSU, and Nebraska at the very least. I can see us winning our 3 other out of conference games, though. I see 2-3 more random losses tacked onto those...so I think it is a real possibility.

I remember everybody being scared that under Randy and Coker we'd always win 8-9 games and they'd never get fired. I don't think Golden is a good enough coach to prevent the team from imploding on him..especially b/c they quit at times this year and it'll only be worse next year.

If we start the year with a blowout loss to Louisville, I will bet anything that the max amount of games we win is 6.

Don't be so sure. Next year's schedule is a lot harder. I too expect the team to quit at some point.
