Still waiting for the 2nd wave (formerly the Something Happening👀👀 thread)

As are you. And I certainly get where you’re coming from. But in my opinion I believe even if Miami goes on a Clemson type run over next decade we will still struggle in south Florida due to the culture. Manny got extremely lucky with COVID because that’s the best south Florida class since Randy’s in 08.

Hope I’m wrong but that’s my gut feeling/opinion
On paper our 18 class was equally strong just didn't have as strong of headliners with 21 having two true 5 stars. SFLA kids and culture is a front running one. They go to the hot schools, plain and simple. In 17 which was the 18 cycle, we were winning and we cleaned up. If we dont **** the bed at the end of the season, we probably pick up a couple more players as well. We win and I think you will find that the kids. will sign in droves, not all of them but a good amount. Miami has to become relevant again. Miami still has some mystique to kids across the nation, but the local kids know first hand how far we have fallen and we are just unattractive to them. Winning cures all.

I agree and recruiting even more nationally wont help imo. theyll use that we dont care about SFL as an excuse.

Kirby is getting in GA but he doesn't care and I dont think Mario does either. **** get the best kids no matter where they play

your end of the post makes sense except when you see these kids consider schools like FSU, ATM, and now lville (atm has been average under fisher and really since JFF left, FSU is worse than we've ever been, Lville LOL and oh btw the coach who led them to their best recent success and an NY6 bowl win (minus the heisman type season for LJ) against UF is here as our LB coach)

Ya, but Ivins is probably getting his intel from the ULL side. If Dmoney, Cribby, Gaby, etc mention this being an issue, then I’ll start sweating. We’ll see.
I wouldn't expect any of the guys on CIS to put it out there if they did know. It's best not to stir the pot and just let things play out behind the scenes.

Ivins also said watch out for ULL for Ray Ray days before he committed to us. I think he’s got a guy on the staff over there. Also one more underwhelming season like they’ve had the past few years and their coach is gone.

I think recruiting nationally will help with the locals. If you're the one always waiting on the local kid, then you're going to be 2nd place more often than not.

You have to flip it on them. You have to show them that you're not going to wait around. The most important thing is that you are attractive to others who want you and you have options just like in personal relationships. It's the same psychology. That comes from winning games being successful. The more we win, the more all kids will want to come.

I agree. thats kinda point I was getting. you dont make it the priority. you show them I can get someone as good as elsewhere who wants to be here. I dont buy the winning argument w locals tho. too many people around them looking out for themselves.

I mean, "fronting funds" to a FL HS athlete isnt NIL, it directly violates FL NIL law. So any collective that does that is both dumb and desperate because you're just giving kids money without being able to enforce the contract.

So **** they could flip, collect a signing bonus I guess, and then flip again. I doubt any collective except Louisville and UF would just give away $ like that
UiF’s collective isn’t or wasn’t giving away up front money as I have read - whether there is now up front under the table money or they’ve changed their stance,I don’t know. Most of their recruits are from Florida. I don’t think their collective is doing that.

Winning is the biggest factor. Just look around college football. Kids aren't going to Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama for the academics and cultural scenery.

Someone posted that kids want to go to the hot schools. The schools that are winning. That's the truth. The teams getting to the CFP and winning championships can just keep the recruiting wheels spinning.

Otherwise, USC, UCLA, U Washington and Miami would have had top 5 recruiting classes for the past 20 years.

The SEC invested in football and used the bag to get the engine running. Now, it just runs on idle.

When the winning falls off, the recruiting falls off and vice versa. When the winning improves, the recruiting improves and vice versa.

We're in a unique situation where all the stars are lined up.

The Admin is heavily invested in football.

We have our HC and one of the best coaching staffs in the country.

We have a fairly light schedule with just enough challenges.

A great season will push us over the top closing out the 2023 recruiting cycle and create even more momentum with 2024 recruiting.

USC does have really good classes for being mediocre since carroll left.

3rd in 2011, 8, 13, 10, 1, 10, 4, 20, 68, 8, and now 6

thats pretty good for a team that hasn't done much since pre 2010.

that class still really missed out on the elite of the elite in SFL though (no Campbell no surtain being two big ones from the area)

you don't think Mario is fine with this. hes not tweeting this if Mario is gonna destroy him
Exactly. He learned at the feet of arguably the second biggest, if not the biggest, control freak in football history. No way this is just slipping through the cracks.
