Saying "Miami IS A SOUTHERN CITY" is THE dumbest thing ever written on the internet. Spanish is the PREDOMINANT language in that city and the United Nations just named it the MOST international city in the world (tied with Paris).

Texas is Texas. I will accept Southwestern city, but they are not eating grits, sitting on porches and drinking lemonade in Texas.

The Florida panhandle is still "Southern". Ocala, Florida...... Maybe. Orlando, Sarasota, Naples, Jacksonville, Tampa and Lakeland are definitively NOT Southern cities.

Have you even been to these cities? Have you heard of Jambalaya, Galatoires , Jazz, Brennans, Etouffee, Fayetteville, Louis Armstrong.....

If you don’t think they eat grits for breakfast in Houston/Texas and sit on there porch drinking lemonade then you haven’t been there and you really don’t know what the **** your taking about. I lived in New Orleans. You are referencing 20%-25% of the population. Go tell a Cajun, Creole or Redbone that they are "Southerners". They represent 35% of the population. My point is that New Orleans is an amalgamation of many different cultures.

60% of New Orleans' population during the Civil War were slaves. About 33% of the total population of New Orleans during the Civil War had businesses in Barbados, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc... This entire segment was White. The Whites fought for the South for economic reasons, not for an affinity to a Southern way of life.

Am from Miami and spent four years in Atlanta. The difference between Atlanta and Houston or Dallas or Austin is THIRTY years of economic development.

Texas is the world's 13th largest economy. You are comparing the USA's second largest economic area with its most destitute. Heck, in the 30 years the USA may divest itself of the South.

You sit around on a porch drinking and eating grits because you have nothing better to do.

Look, you are comparing the world's 13th largest economy (i.e. Texas) to the USA's most destitute region..... THAT makes no sense.

I have never seen ANYONE in Houston nor Dallas sitting around on a porch drinking lemonade and consuming grits.

I have. Currently live in Dallas. DFW does have a touch of Southern vibe to it, not as strong as Bama, but it's there. Also, Texas is a Bible state.

It's just oil. I can name a bunch of ****hole countries with more oil than texas.
