State of Miami

Amari Cooper (Playing for Nationla Champs. What can you do. Miss on this one)
Avery Young (TBA kid is from Georgia)
Jessaman Dunker (Another miss. WPB is always tough for us. Not Dade/Broward)
Ricardo Louis (Lulz. Homie talked to corchs thru 3rd party)
Patrick Miller (Miss)
Keith Brown (REALLY? He was ours if we took his bro)
James Burgess (Was ours but was told to go away)
AJ Leggett (ours again..didnt qualify)
Willie Bailey (Deon, Tracy, Amos)
Avery Johnson (Come on bruh that Patrick's brother. They owe LSU)
Justin Ferguson (I dont know who this is??)

Ay, bruh...I'm not saying what you are saying is incorrect on these guys, but those are all Top 50 guys IN THE STATE from the Tri-County area...you can give each one an excuse (I don't see Haitian Gangs in there, unfortunately)...but THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS (I wasn't attacked by a bear, nor was there even an encounter)...they aren't here...a miss is a miss is a miss.

You're right. We missed on Amos even tho his *** cant get into ITT tech right now.

Oh and Burgess, yep we missed bcuz we dumped him..

You right bruh

Eh, then you gotta convince ol AJ to go prep or JUCO for you...we basically just said "listen, peace ninja"...
And, in regards to Burgess...we'll see if that was a correct evaluation. Time will tell on that one.

I can imagine we did. But buddy went to Marshall's special progrum like Grooms did. Buddy couldnt qualify at Lindsey Hopkins right now

I mostly agree with you but I'm fine with the Burgess evaluation.

We had Leggett. Can't fault us for not convincing him to go prep. SOmetimes doesn't work out that way. Important thing is AG killed it at CB recruiting anyhow. Maybe we don't get Howard if we have Leggett. Or Bush or Crawford. I'll take our CB class.

Louis, that kid will be there every year.

Losses IMO are Cooper, first and foremost. Young second, though he didn't grow up local. Brown is a loss, one way or another, though he was also a flake/weird situation.

Avery Johnson, eh, loss but family / legacy issue.

Miller never was interested in UM, that isht happens.

I give AG high marks for Florida recruiting. Keep in mind, anyone else we take, someone else you got to drop. By my count, 26 of 33 kids are from Florida. AG's focused on expanding our reach by schools and area. I am unsure on his evals, but on staying local and winning local, under the circumstances he recruited under this year, IMO he gets an A+.

I spoke with A.J. today. He kind of went dark and had a little radio silence with some people. There's no way to convince him to go prep. Problem is, he really can't get in anywhere either. So he's basically signing up for the Marshall HELP program and trying to do his best there. He's dissappointed, but is looking at the bright side of things.

We aren't getting all these dudes coming off 6-6 and possible sanctions. If Golden is the guy we think he is, these kids will be climbing over each other's backs to stay home and play at Miami.

Any chance AJ gets his stuff together at some point and transfers back?

As for next year, I really want to flip Artie Burns. It will be tough though. Some results on the field and I think we'll start cherry picking who we want.

I wouldn't place money on A.J. transferring. Not to betray his trust, but it's interesting that the only school that made a legitimate push for him after Miami dropped him (excluding Marshall, obviously) was Tenn. They were hoping to sign and place. Marshall promised him the Kevin Grooms deal. His pride is hurt big time about what happened with Miami. They did everything possible, but A.J. put himself in that situation. It was his dream school and they told him "sorry, but you're SOL."

Couple that with the fact that over the past 4 years myself and about 4 others tried hard to make him see the light with regards to the transferring, getting his **** together, etc., and yet he didn't heed our advice. He's a teenager with no guidance growing up. It sucks.

Lastly, I wouldn't ask him to reconsider UM. I wanted to help him make the best choice possible for him. I told him his freshman year to check out FSU and some SEC schools and not just Miami. We had his best interests at heart and we told him that plenty of times, especially between May and September of this year. Just a shame he didn't take it. Hopefully he's a better person for doing things on his own, maybe he works best that way.

I don't get that either.

He isn't playing at Marshall next year anyway. Maybe his transcript is so bad he can't get into Miami even if he does prep. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I don't know his situation.

That said, good luck to the kid. Hope he balls out at Marshall if he gets eligible and makes the league. I know he has a young son so GL to him and his family.

He just seems to have a bad vibe to it. He feels with Marshall they'll stand by him and be patient. He may not be confident in his ability to even do what he has to do at Prep. I guessa bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. It's only three years anyway, in his mind.

Being involved with him, although on a limited basis and an outside perspective, really shows you some distrubing things about recruiting. I can guarrantee you that, at minimum, half of the kids who are borderline grades/transcript wise and are 3 stars or more don't even take their standardized testings themselves. Teachers blatantly give them a pass the last year or so. It's constructed an environment where they don't believe they have to work outside of the football field. I tried hard to stress to A.J. that all that stuff actually matters more than football, if not you're *** ends up like T.O. Kid's a teenager, they think they can do as they please and not have to worry. We bring up prep school and it's "na, na, Marshall got me and told me x,y,z."

we have 2 commits for 2013...so no

I guess I can see his point on Marshall...listen, do you know how many kids prep or go to JUCO only to never be heard from again? The answer is A LOT.

As long as he gets into a school, its basically a clean slate for him in that regard, instead of going prep or JUCO to FIX all of the mistakes...he can get into Marshall and basically wipe those mistakes away and start new and fresh.

I ain't even mad...its probably best for him...as your posts over time let me think that he's never quite listened to the good advice and worked on school. In one ear and out the other. I hope he actually makes good, because if not, ol Amos won't be doing much with life, it seems.

Whether or not evaluations were correct or we were hasty in dismissing NQ's is irrelevant. It's not a miss if you readily and willingly give them up, at least IMO. I don't care about getting every single Dade/Broward kid (as if that were even possible); I care about getting the kids we want who are actually able to enroll.

Larry you are arguing over semantics.. i know you're being playful but come on sir!.. we took 34 kids this cycle..

What bothers me the most about this is that he would literally only be away from home at Prep school for four and a half months. Not even Five months. He'd be gone in early August when they have to report, get his one semester of Prep school grades, enroll at Miami in the Spring, and be back in Florida permanently in the early part of December. In the grand scheme of things, he SHOULD go to prep school, then enroll at another college, as he would benefit from what would legitimately be a redshirt type season. If he realistically thinks that he's going to be three and done from MARSHALL as a first rounder, kid has some disappointment heading his way in 2015. Let me know how that works out for him.

You're putting a lot of faith in the seemingly foregone conclusion that he would get it done in prep.
