Staff pulling savvy move with Columbus trio

I know this is going to help us with these 3. But just looking at the human element here -- stepping away from the recruiting for a second -- I think this is what a good program SHOULD do. This is the best event possible for the parents of verbal commits and high targets to get to know each other and develop a sense of community themselves.

Great universities like Harvard don't just recruit the students, they spend enormous effort involving the parents, too. I'm sure Shaq-Daddy would agree that the relationship between the families of the 3 LBs in last class helped to lock them in. Yeah, it's a business. But it doesn't have to be "the Firm".

On top of all that, it reinforces the fact that the U is about family, which is what this event is all about in the first place with the alumni coming back to participate.
I agree with this.

To to add to your point this is one area where I really love the Richt hire. He's not necessarily doing this because it's a recruiting tactic. He's doing it because that's just the type of guy he is. That makes it even more effective.

Well said. And indeed, this is who Coach Richt is a person.

As a player, to know the coaches want you so bad they're willing to not only recruit you but when you're not there, they'll will wine and dine your parents too. You're that important to them. High 5 Coach Richt!
My testimony to that...when UGA started recruiting Shaq the only thing I like about GA was it bordered FL...after a sit down with Mark Richt...my wife and I both were like ..of all the coaches we met..Richt was our favorite by far... Parents are going to like him ...he has that personality...Him going to Miami was a Godsend ... like Zeus passing down the cool sword to Perseus... His ploy could be smoke and mirrors..and if it is..it's affective because I'm sold..after the school and in home visits..winning and dining was like the little green stuff next to my steak...not necessary I'm already full.

In Hawaii Ohana means family. In our culture it's always family first. This sounds just like that. Great values being taught genuinely here at the U.

I can sleep at nights knowing the program is in good hands. Parents! What recruit doesn't want to see his momma and daddy get the same attention he's getting. Props
