I agree with this.I know this is going to help us with these 3. But just looking at the human element here -- stepping away from the recruiting for a second -- I think this is what a good program SHOULD do. This is the best event possible for the parents of verbal commits and high targets to get to know each other and develop a sense of community themselves.
Great universities like Harvard don't just recruit the students, they spend enormous effort involving the parents, too. I'm sure Shaq-Daddy would agree that the relationship between the families of the 3 LBs in last class helped to lock them in. Yeah, it's a business. But it doesn't have to be "the Firm".
On top of all that, it reinforces the fact that the U is about family, which is what this event is all about in the first place with the alumni coming back to participate.
To to add to your point this is one area where I really love the Richt hire. He's not necessarily doing this because it's a recruiting tactic. He's doing it because that's just the type of guy he is. That makes it even more effective.
