Only problem is those guys aren't signing with us if its an unproven QB going to be our starter. If Emory our QB you guys better look at tier C and D WRs to add to our young core. The top guys are going to get paid and go to a place with a stable QB

Agreed! So I'm accepting that our offense is going to take a big dip next year. So my concern is our defense is the worst in all of P4, get that new DC and let him cook as quick as possible with the portal.

But Emory not a runner like Haynes King. Ur right thats probably how we win games but will we have the defense to hold teams to under 20 points?

I think the issue most of us have with this is that it’s not exactly like we have an elite, top ten caliber defense to complement the offense. We couldn’t even make the ACC Championship this year with the #1 offense and a Heisman candidate at QB. What happens next year if the offense is struggling and the defense still hasn’t improved? If I felt more confident in the defense drastically improving next year I’d be okay with this, but right now I don’t.

Last year preseason ACC QB rankings we were #1.

This year if we went Emory/Luke we would rank somewhere between 14-17th.

Mendoza would sit around 3rd-4th.

the problem is we better have a much more solid defense to go with it or it won't matter. Right now our D is a serious issue that has yet to be addressed. I am not sure we can just fix everything in the portal.
 
It’s hard to see, but this team is light years ahead of where it was 3 years ago relative to its competition, which is all that counts. Long way to go before we know what this team fully looks like and we still need to add some huge pieces to that abysmal defense. Also, Emory may not end being the starting QB or any good if he is, but his arm is strong enough and he’s a pretty good athlete. Noodle arm and statue don’t apply IMO.
