STA Tops List of FBS Producing Talent

This is reinforces my point. Before we scan the landscape for talent. EVERY stone needs to be turned at STA.

Followed by NW and Central, but they aren't must-search schools like STA although it would be a good idea to do so.

I remember watching the Central v BTW game a few years ago with cook/yearby playing against treon harris, Walton, Chad Thomas etc. That game featured maybe 12 players going to UF, FSU and Miami. One of the best displays of talent I've ever watched, but I don't go to many games in person really. Florida definitely is a hotbed of talent and pumps out D1 players like crazy. Competition breeds excellence

Step 1: Dominate Dade/Broward/PB. Be thorough and leave no stone unturned. Allow Gators and Noles to only sign players we pass on.

Step 2: Effectively and efficiently recruit the rest of Florida. Plenty of top kids in TB, Orl, Jax and elsewhere who'll give the Canes a serious look.

Step 3: Pursue a limited number of kids from outside Florida, zeroing in on prospects who have legitimate interest. Don't waste time fooling with someone who isn't any better than what we can find at home. In other words, be smart about it.
***1n spot on!!! Amen brother.

Obviously, recruiting locally in South Fla is always the top priority, but I would love to see us crack open a pipeline in Texas.

Bama, LSU, Notre Dame & even Stanford have all had high caliber Texas players in most of their recent classes. I actually think Texas recruits would be equally as receptive to us as the Georgia kids have been.

Especially at QB, Texas produces an abundance of great QB's every class, both Pro & Dual.
I've said for a minute that baby Richt should be given the state of Texas. Let him build inroads there and take a couple of kids per year at any position. It'll pay off in the long run. Richt basically was able to get the ball rolling on Sony bc of they took a kicker (!) out of AH.

I don't know about this particular district, but people use fake addresses and family/friends addresses all the time the get around this. NJ also has this policy, but kids from the hood use fake information to go to HS in the suburbs all the time to get a better education.

That does happen, but nowhere near as frequently in Texas. The governing body in Texas (UIL) is much more strict. It does happen some (I can name plenty), but nowhere near the same degree as places like NJ, LA, CA, FL, etc. There are no "transfer szn" threads on Texas HSFB message boards. That's both good and bad depending on your perspective.

Inflated..state of Texas has 12 FBS schools within state.

Take away 5 schools to make it even with Florida's 7 and it wouldn't hardly change.

UTEP, Rice, UTSA, UNT, and Houston have a combined 2 kids from Desoto, 4 from Cedar Hill, and 1 from Skyline.

Desoto would drop from #3 to #5.
Cedar Hill would drop from #5 to #7.
Skyline would drop one spot from #11 to #12, tied with lowly private recruiting powerhouse Bishop Gorman.

I agree...
NW, Central, Chaminade, Carol City, and probably AH are all in the 1st tier. But STA is at the clear top of the 1st tier.

2nd tier IMHO:
Southridge, South Dade, Booker T, and Gibbons if they continue this recent run. And obviously if the first 2 keep up recent run, they could join first tier. But it seems like things go in cycles in the Southern part of Dade.

Preach my g. Before Gunnell committed to UAZ, my boy who’s a UT alum was like I had to check him out. Wish we would’ve offered. TX produce nice QBs

****, Stevie Wonder can recruit STA.

MNW and Central aren't "must-search" schools? MNW just won a state championship!
This is the type of strategy Coach Shannon used, which had him completely oblivious to Jon Feliciano's existence. The All-Time record holder for starts at The University of Miami (and an NFL O-Lineman) lived 30 minutes away from campus and wasn't being recruited because he played at lil' ol' Western High School.

Focusing on a few specific schools is not a recipe for success IMO. We put way too much emphasis on MNW in 2008 and it hurt us.
Plenty of kids that we've signed from STA have been pedestrian. Jelani Hamilton, Jermaine Barton, Little Linder, Michael Irvin, etc.

Good recruiters find stud players whether they're at premier/popular schools or 6-4 programs. (not to name drop again but) That's how you sign a Fabian Moreau, who also was ignored cause he went to Western.
The starting DE for Pitt, who apparently is looking like an early round pick already according to a Pitt coach I spoke to, played at Cooper City High.

By no means am I saying ignore STA, Heritage, Gibbons, etc. But you have to remember that, at some point, those STA/AH/CG kids were attending schools like Piper, Western, Cypress Bay, Dillard, etc...which just shows that there is talent at those less-heralded schools. When you recruit thoroughly sometimes you find a kid that chose to stay rather than transfer to an STA, like Feliciano.

You can't place those schools on the back-burner.

Shoot...

The fact that those schools have less talent should only make them easier to recruit IMO. If a scout visits STA he's got like 20+ kids to evaluate. When he visits a Piper or a Dillard he's only got like 2. You can knock that out in a few minutes and be done with that school for the year.
It doesn't take long and maybe you find a solid contributor that ends up being better than the kid(s) you were sucking off at STA/AH/CG.

At the end of the day, most scouts already know whether your school has their type of player on campus or not. I can't tell you how many times I've heard a scout say "I heard yall got a stud RB over here" or something along those lines.

Any time a school extends an offer, every other school in that conference is notified. So when Pitt/Syracuse/Miami/etc extend an offer, every school in the ACC is made aware. So even if they didn't know about that specific kid before, the fact that another school in the conference offered makes them look into it.
