Sam bruce is probably the only kid to come out of that area where St.Thomas is located off 95 and davie that is actually a DIV 1 prospect. Everyone else is recruited and dosent live in that area.

You can pretty much say the same about their regular student body though too. It's a private school not a geographically restrained public school. I don't get the knock on them "recruiting" when we have plenty of so called public schools down here playing games with phony addresses for kids they're actually illegally transferring in to their schools. At least the kids STA is scooping up are getting a decent education (if they want it) and are somewhat restrained there from acting like complete fools during the recruiting process. A lot of the criticism of them kinda just comes off as jealousy to me.

No knock on them at all I know it's not a public school and they can do as they please but u just found it weird how there's basically never any kids from that area getting recruited. It's like the talent level is non existent there

I think Stranahan has been perennially mediocre and South Plantation was decent a few years back when they had Alex Collins but I don't think they're typically anything special. I don't follow Broward high school football extremely close but I think Andre King is the last kid of major note that I can even remember coming out of Stranahan too.

We had one year I think it was 2010 or 09 where they made it to the second round of the playoffs and lost against the Dwyer team that was led by brisset O'Leary and matt elam where they got crushed. There's really nobody ever coming out of there and probably won't ever be cause of St Thomas being so close by. If they do get a talented player they'll most likely transfer to St.Thomas after a few years.

Interesting. Truth be told, I live kinda in that area and didn't even know there was a high school back there for the longest time. Yeah, Broward is definitely kinda weird in that where you'd guess there would be strong high school football programs isn't necessarily always the case. Even STA's location alone is kinda strange in relation to it being a strong academic private school with fairly costly tuition in not that attractive of an area.

2. Poaching

Many teams in Broward would be stronger if it wasn't for those 2 factors.

i been posting about Huntley ont he board...Dude going to Colorado and they got a steal...he is like 6'2 205 with elite hands.

STRANAHAN is an academic school/and a magnet program...they should be a little better as they can generally get kids throughout the whole county...when i was in middle school..stranahan came to our school to get kids for their magnet programs...and im in south broward/miramar. They just dont recruit all thatw ell or hard or keep coaches long enough.... Reynaldo Hill who went to uf the last big prospect to come out of there and he made it to the nfl.. played db for the titans.

South Plantation is atleast an avg program as of late, and they send kids to div 1 schools. Alex Collins was technically a dillard kid that transferred there

Stranahans magnet program is not a huge part of the school. Most of the kids like you said come from the miramar area then the rest of the population is kids who are just zoned to go to that school.

Dude, that kid is the real deal Holyfield. I can't understand how he doesn't have more major offers. We played South Plant twice last season, once in a 7-on-7 tournament and once during the regular season. He was a man-child both times. Lucky for us their coaches have no clue how to use him. All they do is throw deep to him. They threw short to him one time (a screen) and he made every kid on our defense look obsolete on his way to the endzone.

Why do kids transfer to STA exactly? I'm sure winning states every year is the main thing and it probably helps the under the radar kids get some offers. Is the coaching better? The player development better? Or Is it the cool thing to do and go play with all of your 7on7 buddies? like you said the Name STA recruits itself and maybe they just want to say they play at STA.

Currently dont think the coaching is significantly better...it use to be....

also the name carries weight in recruiting...so the sta kid would get an offer before. another...but if your a kid with a slew of offers already is no need...the chance to play for a state champ is really really high...

Previously sta kids wasnt really involved in that 7 on 7 circuit....but its a new guy in charge now so maybe they will be...

Sometimes they wanna be surrounded by better players.
Sometimes they think they'll get better offers by being at STA. I've never seen that happen with one of my kids though. The last kid we lost to STA got his best offer with us. (UF)

There can be a handful of different reasons and in some occasions it may be true. I don't blame some kinds for transferring, particularly if they're at a program that's in shambles. What boggles my mind is when a kid leaves a team that's coached well and is winning. (which I won't get into because then I'll start venting lol)

I'm not sure about now, but in the past they were definitely coached better than most programs and overall they had their ducks in a row when it came to running a program.

I was just notified yesterday that they're getting 3 kids from Dillard. Two have Miami offers.

One of them already transferred in yesterday. Jordan Merrell.
