STA #2 per USA today

Don't think De La Salle is what they used to be.

I remember about 20 years ago they had a 10 year winning streak (undefeated) or there abouts.

Ladouceur was the HC then - he's retired now, though.
Fair enough. But de la salle had two losses this year. St John Bosco and Aquinas.

They are not; I worked down the street from there and my co worker’s son just graduated about 2 yrs ago from there. We talked and he even admitted the aura around the program is not the same. Simply b/c schools on the outskirts are keeping players due to CDLS being so **** expensive!

Man western should’ve beat sta this year. Had a touchdown wiped off by a bull**** ref decision and then Sta was flopping on a fg attempt to get an extra timeout before half. If those things go Western’s way they have a lead over sta at half.

They played STA tough for a half but they turned the ball over 7 times.

I thought they were very beatable. We basically dominated them for 2.5 quarters. But then they returned a blocked punt for a TD. Got an interception for a TD. And then next thing you know they were up and had all the momentum. They only managed 230 yards and 14 points of offense and still beat our a$$ 28-7.
That's what STA does.

They always finds a way to generate points and win ball games. If they can't score on offense, they score on defense or special teams. That's a sign of their buy-in. Their kids give effort in all 3 facets of the game. Gotta give their staff credit for that.

Their defense is predicated on causing chaos. They blitz from all over the place and move around a lot pre-snap. Often times it's unsound. They'll give up big plays but then next thing you know that chaos will force a pick-6 or a big sack. That's how they beat us and Western as well. (who also played them tough)
On offense they're very vanilla and predictable. One of the easier offenses to prepare for. But they block well, their RB's run very hard, their QB can make things happen with his legs and they don't turn the ball over often.

It'll be interesting to see what they look like in the spring. They have to replace A LOT. I like their QB though, and he's only gonna get better.
They've already hit the free agent market. Got one of our Sophomore D-lineman last week.

Exactly what Manny Diaz wants his defense to be. Except this year we didn't force many INT's unfortunately.

Carol City's OC did a really good job against STA, at least in the beginning of the game. They came out in 5-wide/empty in the 1st quarter, which allowed CC's QB to identify where the blitzers were coming from much easier than he could have in a traditional offensive formation.
CC marched right down the field on STA's defense, utilizing quick passes and bubble screens.

But again...

All that chaos eventually caused CC's young QB to throw a pick-6 and then the game snowballed.
CC played them really tough. The final score was not a true indication of how the game went.

CDLS?

Surprised that STA hasn’t played Mater Dei, yet. Especially, considering all of the west coast teams that they’ve already played.

I hate that for the local schools. Id much rather see kids stay with teams like deerfield who mean so much to the community. Not a fan of that sh*t at all

I wish it was like that too but the transfer culture is WIDE OPEN. Even we don't have the same kids year to year.

We lost 2 kids last week to private schools...but also gained like 5.
It's crazy. I don't know how any program can build a true winning culture this way but I guess it's something we have to get used to.
