Fair. But you get word of mouth too. A number of the HS recruits have had positive things to say.

How many years do you think it will take Beard to build a solid P5 rep?

I think he's good with HS kids already - I'm just not sure what he has to offer for a transfer - especially a 1 year rental.

Don't think it will take long if our offense is any semblance of Houston in 2022 and we feature someone at least 75% of what Tank Dell was able to do. Give us a 1,000 yard receiver in X or Colbie and maybe Jacolby busts on to the scene for about 600 yards. Kids will take notice.

A dramatic improvement in our offensive production is more important to our recruiting and the future of what Mario will be able to accomplish here than a drastic record improvement. Although, I doubt one of those happens without the other. But we're in dangerous territory with Mario's QB stigma and it trickling down into WR recruiting too. Have to wash that to move forward.
 


Miami is on the market for a running back in the transfer portal and InsideTheU learned of a name that the program has momentum with.

That would be Nebraska transfer Ajay Allen, who left Lincoln after spending one year with the Huskers after signing with Scott Frost as a four-star recruit out of Louisiana. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder played in four games as a true freshman last fall before suffering a season-ending injury.

In those opportunities, Allen totaled 190 yards and averaged 5.8 yards per carry while finding pay dirt twice. Coming out of Monroe (La.) Neville, Allen held offers from programs like TCU and Mississippi State.

Miami is returning two running backs in Henry Parrish and Don Chaney Jr. from the 2022 season after losing two to the transfer portal. Chaney has suffered through a few injuries since arriving as a prized recruit in the Class of 2020.

The Hurricanes will also add a couple of true freshmen this summer in Mark Fletcher and speedster Christopher Johnson.

Miami has strong ties to The Boot with key recruiting staffer Dennis Smith and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry each from the state.

- Another who Miami has mutual interest with is Houston transfer running back Alton McCaskill, who has been linked to the Colorado and also visited Arizona State. Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson just came from the Cougars and that has the 6-foot-1, 210-pounder interested in the Hurricanes. As a freshman in 2021, McCaskill totaled 961 yards rushing with 16 scores, earning AAC Rookie of the Year honors from the conference. He missed the 2022 season with a torn ACL.

Miami added a cornerback via the transfer portal in Jaden Davis from Oklahoma this week, but the Hurricanes aren’t done chasing talent at the position as they look to improve the roster for an extremely important 2023 season.

Shortly after adding Davis, Miami offered Louisiana-Lafayette cornerback Trey Amos, one of the most popular names in the transfer portal. The Hurricanes are also recruiting Vanderbilt transfer cornerback Jadais Richard, a Louisiana native who played 203 snaps for the Commodores as a true freshman last fall.

The 6-foot-2, 197-pounder was credited with a 60.3 pass coverage grade after allowing catches on nine of his 13 targets for 211 yards for a pair of scores in his first season of college football. His best game came at the tail of the season when Richard got his biggest workload against Florida. He finished the game with 52 snaps, more 20 snaps more than any other appearance of the season, and finished with season-high grades as a tackler (78.5) and in coverage (71.0).

That game, Richard recorded his only credited pass breakup of the season and held first-round pick Anthony Richardson’s wideouts to just two catches for 17 yards. Richard started the final regular season game of the year.

He was rated as a four-star safety prospect with a ‘91’ grade from the 247Sports Rankings Council in the Class of 2022.

A source familiar with Richard’s recruitment tells InsideTheU that the Hurricanes have reached out with legitimate interest. That same person believes that Richard is an NFL talent, though there is still some development needed as a cornerback. Vanderbilt did not want to lose him and did their part in trying to get him to stick around Nashville, but Richard elected to explore his opportunities in the open market.

Not a great recruiter and you need to be at Notre Dame. At LSU it recruits itself.

Could be reaching there. I thought he was known from coaching 7x7 teams. Either way, those guys are young aggressive and run an air raid. Should be attractive to portalers when you add in TVD and NIL.
