Spring Transfer Portal

What a dumb response.

So you force out AN ENTIRE RECRUITING CLASS (even if they are only 3-stars) because you are hoping for 4 and 5 stars?

Sure, I guess you don't have to have 85 guys for practice and scrimmaging and depth...

How is that "Great Replacement Theory" working out?

FOUR guys better than the 2022 class in the 2023 class:

FIVE 2022 transfers with 4 stars or higher (two from Jackson State).

Annnnd, the 2023 class thus far:

So, yeah, push out 40 or 50 3-star/4-star guys...for TEN 4-star/5-star recruits/Portal guys...

Makes sense...
At first I admit I was like eh he’s doing some house cleaning

But nah. Colorado is in no position to do **** like this. No one is really but especially not a program like that

Fair share seems like a stretch. More like dabbled.
Most relevant programs aren't doing much. Sure Alabama and Ohio State have probably done it trying to find a QB. Aside from that, they've stayed away from it.

Georgia isn't tampering, Clemson isn't, ND isn't, Michigan isn't. Even Florida isn't. Kinda tells me that might be the safest path and they know something is going on or is about to come down.

Desperate programs like Colorado, FSU, and USC are doing it the most.

Definitely fair game if you want to debate which path Miami should be taking. We're 100% more comparable to the 2nd bucket of programs than we are the first bucket. Just looks like they're staying clear like most of the blue bloods that typically run the show and the NCAA caters to.

He is going to have to sign a class of 40 or more because once the annual counters are back he could be in trouble if he doesn’t. Part of me thinks that this is all part of his plan, a short sighted one but a plan nonetheless. He wasn’t going to make a splash this cycle by signing 25, but if he roles into ESD with a top 10 class which most likely is there because of quantity, he will take advantage of that press.

Problem for him now isn’t just the numbers…how do you recruit players when your NIL isn’t what you told people it was going to be? So you’re going to suck AND we don’t have the money you can get elsewhere…

His own recruits, some Jackson St transfers and the actual good players from the previous roster….all jumping ship… is completely different than some bums hitting the portal.

The description I heard on here was that they had a weird NIL setup not that they were broke. I’m not sure what that looks like but do you? One thing I do know, is that Deion can sell a HS kid and his first couple of classes will bring in decent talent. His issue will always be, does he have temperament to actually coach?

No you’re right, it’s weirdly set up. They’ve got some players, (nothing like us or UF or any other legit P5 program), but good enough. But that doesn’t take away that Deion bent the truth and already did some damage. Plus you can’t hide when you put the product on the field…if you watched the game, the dudes in the trenches are extremely small. I’d go as far to say not P5 material. Charles Kelly is calling plays lol, he stinks.

Now does that matter to him this season? Probably not, and he’s already generated a ton of buzz so he has that going for him. But he’s not good when operating under pressure or any sort of negativity. He gets emotional and tries to big dog everything. He deflects any blame towards his players, staff…anything but him. There’s no humility. I don’t think players will want to play for a guy like that if they’re not getting the money they were promised in a timely fashion, nor are they winning and are a laughingstock when losing by 30+. Everyone is going to want to not only beat Deion, but humiliate him for thinking coaching is this easy.

They’re almost assuredly starting 0-2, and if they lose to Colorado St (which in my opinion is a true coin flip…Jay Norvell is a solid coach and rivalry game, etc.), the season will go off the rails. They follow that up with Oregon and USC, two 30+ point losses. 0-5 and they might just all quit on him, and that’s not including games left @Wazzu, @Utah (last two of the season, another time they could just pack it in and quit for 2024), @UCLA, a very good Oregon St team that will manhandle you if your interior o/d is weak, a much improved and bowl-seeking Arizona team behind Fisch, de Laura and Cowing, etc.

We haven’t even begun to discuss the possibility that Hunter looks pedestrian out there or Cormani is fed to the wolves and it hampers his development (if he even enrolls 👀), or Shadeur is a mediocre QB… those would be devastating to his credibility.

Long story short, if Deion has nothing to sell, he’s totally f^cked

You can’t look at it that way. .85 is probably standard for them like .91 ish is pretty standard for us. If we lost the ‘22 class we signed it would be bad.

He’s not going to drastically upgrade with the portal, mostly 1-2 year players tops replacing jags with jags. Mostly 1 and done so next year will have turnover again. Large signing classes also have huge turnover. He’ll need both to get to 85. Once he’s at 85 and has turnover again he won’t have another unlimited counter offseason to bring it up. It’ll be self impose scholarship reduction.

Sanders is obviously trying to create a new standard, and Colorado fans expect it.

The question was: why is nobody talking about this and he’s getting a pass?

And that is the answer. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But that’s why he is getting a pass.

Right. He’s obviously going to sign a huge ‘24 class, with a lot of high school and transfers.

And then he will just Year 0 this thing for a few seasons.

And the rest of us will see how it goes.

Changes are coming both ways. News should leak soon.
Can you share why there is a delay on kids entering? Is Mario pushing people out dependent on who we can bring in or are kids trying to negotiate NIL?

Anyone we are going to be upset about? I believe there were rumors of LT before (but don't know how credible they were); I hope that is not the case especially considering our DT situation.

To be fair, some of that is a matter of circumstance. Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, etc. do not really need to tamper, because they know their reputation and name speaks for itself. If a guy enters the portal with a destination in mind and one of those schools reaches out, that player will at least pick up the phone and reconsider. That aside, when you are using the portal to plug a gap or two and still rely on building a roster through HS recruiting, that somewhat lessens the emphasis. Last year, Bama allegedly did it with the RB from GT and this year with QBs. It is not that they are above doing it, they just are not really relying on the portal that much.

For your top point, combo of things.

Mainly, it’s that they don’t like what they’re seeing in terms of interest at the P5 level, or in the portal in general. What does that tell you? They suck, and have two options: go lower level and play, or stay on this roster and never play. Some kids have been told they aren’t really wanted here, it’s up to them now.

There’s back-channeling too for some, Mario won’t rush them to hit the portal. Just do it by the deadline.

How do we have a freshman AA at FIU in the portal from Miami and we can’t land him lol
How has it been about 20 years of stuff like this and you guys are still asking these type of questions like you're brand new?

The moment you think something should be a slam dunk stop yourself. Then remember all the other times logical "sure things" didn't work out and go "oh yeah, this is Miami."
