Losing talent like Cam and X is one thing but their leadership is the hardest to replace imo

Bama becoming Miami’s JV team. #1 Jersey just means more here. They saw what Lashlee was doing and wanted a piece of the action. Should have grabbed TVD from the portal when they had their chance.

I thought about that (TVD to Bama) the other day and the ramifications.

Miami probably would have brought in Michael Pratt or Taulia Tagovailoa at a cheaper price than what it cost to keep TVD. Both considered the NFL draft before pulling back and returning to Tulane and Maryland respectively. Would their success and a probable 10+ win for Miami provided a clearer blueprint for Cam to commit earlier and Jeremiah Smith to see the growth in the offense to spurn OSU?

I get why for perception purposes, Miami and Mario needed a “win” after 5-7 and losing assistants to Bama and Georgia. Guidry probably would have found to eff it up somehow in the end but it made me wonder.

I'm pretty sure you're correct. His leaving still may have triggered another QB to enter to compete for the opening. But we didn't really have our stuff together coaching-wise at the time, so I think we made the deal with the devil we knew. Wasted year, for sure.

Only Miami has injured players
