i don’t remember the last time he gave up a hit, do you think we’ll see him fighting for a starting spot sometime this spring…?
We need one of the freshmen or transfers to step up and bolster the pitching staff.
A long relief role.... mid-week starter....
5-6 innings a week would really help.

Players of the day: Max Galvin and Mikey Fernandez
What about the defense? From other posts I've read, it sounds like this team can't catch the baseball. And they do not appear to be deep enough to be giving extra outs to good competion.

That's what looks like the question mark to me. The bats aren't where they need to be but they will come around with guys like Hudson and Williams they are good hitters. But in the field some guys just do not look natural where they are. Its not as bad as people are making it out to be, but something to keep an eye on.

based on comments, wouldn't Cuvet to 1st, Belen kid to SS, and current SS to 3rd work better than what it sounds like been happening??

This is what I'm trying to figure out. I haven't watched but everyone I have talked to say its very bad and the clips I have seen of Hudson at 1B and our SS situation... it looks pretty bad.

But then I've seen some people down play it.

If we plan on starting a sinker ball guy like Robert on the weekend and potentially Fischer in the midweek - nothing is going to ruin that like not having a SS. Dorian isn't exactly a plus defender at 2nd and Cuvet is an average defensive 3B.

Something I would live with if it meant we're plugging great bats into the lineup for it.

Defensively yes, but at the same time the other lineup gives a much higher ceiling. That’s because Cuvet has actually been one of the better defenders at third, Hudson at first is huge potential because of the height and it allows a dh spot to be free for a significant hitter, and Ogden can do a job at short. Right now it isn’t pretty but I guess they’re just gonna roll as long as they can until it either clicks or crap hits the fan

i think ss isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I’m more worried for RF 1B, seemed like everything that side was a worry. When the bats were going towards the end of fall no one was worried as much, but when they aren’t hitting it becomes something you can’t overlook

Who do you see at SS? If it’s the freshman I think it’s ok but the lineup suffers. If it’s Ogden… it’s pretty rough defensively.

I think Ogden will start the year, it might not be natural but the kid is a gamer who will at the minimum be ok in the field and a great piece offensively. I think they will work DeGoti into short as the season gets going and he can get some abs against other arms, and then move Ogden to Dh or even first
