Speedster Schwartz talks relationship with Rumph

Imagine our offense with Jeff Thomas, Mike Harley, Lingawww, Schwartz, among others on the field at the same time...what defense can matchup with that speed?

Imagine Thomas and Schwartz returning kicks...imagine any of these kids returning punts...people say speed kills for a reason because it actually does.

I hope this staff finds a spot for this kid.

Dorset was one of the fastest players in the nation and sucked at returning kicks...

Schwartz's film of kick returns doesn't really excite me. altjough, I do agree that letting speed like that leave SFL is though to swallow

But but but Rumph can't recruit...

Kid hasn't signed yet dodo brain. The criticism of Rumph and Brown have been justified with the first 2 classes. Can they make up for it? Sure. But as it stands they aren't pulling their weight on the trail.

Rumph was hired literally a week and several days before signing day last year... What a horrible recruiting job he did in the week & several days. I agree wholeheartedly... jeezus

It was a month, not a week and several days. Your point is well taken, but no need to exaggerate it.

If we're taking 4, you always take the guy with Elite speed. We're not hurting at WR, so take a chance on a guy that is the fastest of the bunch. We need more speed, and we'd have a heck of a hard time finding anyone faster than this. ****, he's a take for special teams alone. Remember how Sam Shields lit it up as a gunner? This guy would do the same. If you can offer a punter a full ride, you can offer the fastest guy possible one. Take.

hes not good at it. Thats a fact. He's learning on the job which is good. I want to know what credit for him being in the door with a kid hes coached since he was 10?. This is the group he brought to heritage from west pines..Him, Marco Wilson, Tyson Campbell etc. But lets see if he learned from his mistakes. Yall giving credit on stuff that really had no bearing...is like Golden/Shannon getting credit for Duke Johnson

That's not a fact, that's an opinion. What mistakes? You didn't give one valid reason why he is not good recruiter. Not one! Read the articles that Pete and Erick post. Player after player praise him during their recruiting process. ****, even Pete vouches for him. But no, the Heritage kids aren't enough. So you choose to crucify him because of what happened to CJ and Edwards. As if it is his fault or a reflection on his recruiting skills. Such ignorance and stupidity.

ive been on him before cj and Edwards. You must think its a good thing to have to go after Graduate transfer corners every year. Im not gonna list the mistakes currently but theyve been laid out on the board.

You rookies got a hard on, cause ha dude has interest in um in Freaking feburary. Dude himself admitted to his defeat in just the last class. He's learning on the job, not above criticism. Im not guessing on him...like yall are. I dont got to read articles Pete or Eric post....he's gotten praise after praise as well while kids have signed elsewhere. Again will watch him throughout THIS class...the first two cycles he's treading water in the recruiting department.

gogeta4, You speak the truth!! I see what you see

Rumph was hired close to a month prior to NSD in 2016. How in the world do you blame or hold him accountable for anything in that class? You said you were on him prior to Edwards and CJ, why is that? What reasons did he give you to be concerned about his recruiting?

great post, not sure how people can't see it this way.

I have been very critical of Rumph. My position on him is changing, and has the potential to do a complete 540 on signing day 2018. But while he may be trending up so far this cycle, considering signed LOIs he has not done as much as we needed him to. there are no participation trophies, or effort awards in recruiting. You either sign studs, or you don't. Last class was not a total failure, but we did not get the job done to the extent we could, and should have.

A lot of time until signing day, people shouldn't be crowning him yet. A lot can change, bags will start getting dropped off and more lessons will be learned. That said, I suspect by early February 2018 I will be looking back regretting my lack of patience with him. Just not yet.

How much is Rumph paying for the PR? So far, I'm hearing a lot of kids say they like him. One even said he's a second father figure and was with Rumph since Optimist ball. Yet we're merely in the mix for him and not even the leader.

Nearly found a way to lose the cousin of PMG, who is a South Dade CB, to Arizona fcking State when we need CBs desperately. Thank God for Coach Colbertson.

I hope to **** he turns it around because if he does we win, and that's all I care about.

He should come in on a track scholarship just like Burns. They could have a crazy 4×1 With him and The kid from Texas. Even Tyson Campbell is quite fast at 10.4. Amy Dean has coaches many Olympians and Olympic champions. If Miami was a state school they would have NCAA titles in track. If he proves himself on the football field his school transfers over.

I'm starting to wonder if this kid ever plays a down of CFB and just chases the $ in track...he's good enough

Agree.

He'll likely leave high school running under 10 in the 100m. That's where his brightest future is, IMO.

Unless he loves football, I'd tell him to hang up the football cleats.

Honest question. How much money can one make running track? Yeah, Usain Bolt is obviously the best in the world with the personality to match. His star power gets him a lot of endorsement deals.

But let's say that Schwartz doesn't become the best in the world, or that he doesn't have that big lights personality. Do we really think he'd make more money running track than playing football?

Usain Bolt is worth over $30M, but Just Gatlin, who's **** good in his own right, is only worth $1M.

Being worth $1M is pretty solid.
I'm sure this kid has dreams of competing in the Olympics. And sometimes dreams are more important than money. I think right now he should focus on Track and try to be and Olympian, but that doesn't mean he can't eventually try to join the NFL. The US gives 10k for Bronze, 15k for silver and 25k for gold at the olympics. But yeah if he chooses that path there isn't much money in it for him. Average top 10 track/field athletes make like 15k/yr. But after sponsorships, I'm sure you can make a solid living.

Wouldn't that be an argument for him to play football and try to hone his skills? Even if he goes elsewhere and works at it for 4 years, some NFL team may take a chance on him and the league minimum sounds more appealing than "making a min living running track." I don't know enough about track money to comment with depth, so I'm going off your discussion.

No reason Schwartz can't do football and track in ciollege and keep an eye on the Olympics. Off the top of my head Oregon had a WR in the Olympics last year. Marquis Goodwin in the NFL was in the Olympics I believe as well as a rugby player that's on the Niners.

Well it really just depends on what your goals are. If my goal was to be an olympic gold medalist, I would not play football at least not until after the 2020 olympics. Anytime you're playing football, youre not training for track. If I were him I'd go all out in training to qualify for the 2020 olympics. If I can qualify then I'd continue down the path that takes me. If I medaled in the olympics, I might stick with solely track for a few more yrs.

But if I didn't qualify for the 2020 olympics, I'd still participate in track, but I'd join the football team and split my time doing both....I think after the 2020 olympics he'd be a senior if i'm right. And when you're game is 100% based on speed I think all it takes is 1 season showing off that world class speed and showing you can take a hit to be given a chance in the NFL.

Yeah but Devon Allen quit football to focus solely on track once it became evident he would qualify.

Lingard wants to go to the Olympics for hurdling too. Big reason he chose us was the coaches being very open to him running track that included with our track coaches track record and experience. With that said if this kid goes anywhere for football it's florida. More of an open book then Hendo
