Speed infusion

Gotta add the other Washington as well

It’s been way too long since we’ve had his athleticism at LB
No question! Bobby Washington seems like one of these kids who flew a little under the radar in high school in terms of being a LB but quickly put it all together once he settled into the position. I get the distinct impression that if Bobby had played LB from the get, that he might have been a 5 star prospect.

When you look at the progression from his Junior year to Senior year in High School then what he was able to do as a true freshman EE in Spring practice you realize that this kid is a freakish talent who is going to play early and often. At 6'3" 220 lbs with legit 4.4 speed plus awareness and instincts typically not seen at this age to go with lateral quickness, agility and striking ability, this is the type of LB Miami has not had in a very long time.

My only concern is with the issue that caused him to miss the Spring game. I don't know what happened but I would hope that it is already behind him because I am truly looking forward to watching BW play as a true freshman and to see how this young man develops during his career here.

What issue? What'd I miss?

After running with the 1st team for most of the Spring, Bobby did not participate in the spring game. D$ said that it was something that was being handled in house and that BW would still be a big part of our future at LB. I have no idea what happened with BW but like I said, hopefully it's completely in the rear view now and he picks up in fall practice where left off in the spring.

Many years ago I would enjoy Monte Trainers end zone Hurricane Club wings and beer at the OB .
I would love to watch pregame ground level by the east end zone hedges music playing loud.
Now you picture the scene 🎬.

Santana Moss comes close to return punts in warm up.

Brothers and sisters we all hear of 4.4 40 times and 10:15 100’s BUT when you see Santana return punts you’d swear all those times compared to what I witnessed are walking fast at best.

The WOW factor of Santana field speed was EPIC.

Just sharing what I can access in my mind anytime from the past years of RINGS .

We get these types of players RINGS to follow.

Thanks D! Last years team was the slowest Miami team since the 70s. Yes, I know players are way faster now, but just comparing to the competition at the time. I'm sure some was coaching too and they just played slow. Oline and speed should be the biggest improvements this year.

I’d sit there and watch this team last year and think to myself, “my goodness they are so slow. It’s incomprehensible how they can be slower than Middle Tennessee, yet here we are.”

Where it really goes overlooked is on special teams. On specials, your teams are filled with LB’s, TE’s, S’s.

Big bodies that run fast in a straight line. The glaring speed issues that were present on the teams was so frustrating to see happening. How previous HC’s let it get to that point I do not know, but it has to be rectified if you want to really dominate.

Miami hasn’t fielded even competent special teams in years.

MTU was out running us, no secret the roster was dirt slow but that game showed it.

And he should have, at worst, a pretty decent offensive line as well.

All the speed in the world is great and much needed. Doesn’t really do much for you if your OL is 5 parking cones.

I think the OL will be considerably better, which should allow Dawson to do what you’re saying.

Anybody seen Zion Nelson?? He gonna play football this year?

Sounds like Mario was taking note, thankfully.

Exactly.

Our fan base has always been enamored with 40 times though…and back in 80s, 90s, etc…it made more sense since it was pretty much a commodity we had that others didn’t. Now it is a necessity, but keeping our QB vertical is as well.

When we ever get a true OL and DT infusion, this team will really start competing.

Still shaking my head at the 5’8 middle Tennessee receiver torching us.

It’s going to be so nice not playing in a phone booth all game.

Gattis had us playing redzone offense on our 20.
