Happy holidays to all! Here are the South Florida safeties that signed Division 1 letters of intent in the 2025 class.
Bryce Fitgerald, Columbus (6'0" 172) - Belen transfer. Basketball player turned elite ballhawk. Big time player that makes big time plays in big time moments. 10 picks (2 pick sixes) as a junior. 2 picks in state title game against Mandarin. Way faster than track times suggest (11.63 100M.) Has the length, twitch and hip fluidity to move to CB if needed. Also played WR and could have been an FBS prospect there. Claims 4.49 40. Miami signee.
Greg "Zae" Thomas, American Heritage (6'2" 190) - Physically imposing coverage technician from a DB factory. Very long and elite at jamming receivers when playing boundary. Great fluidity at FS and delivers a hard pop. Top end speed unspectacular (11.56 100M.) Can be either a boundary CB or safety at the next level, but I think his physicality would be much better used at safety. Reminds me of Keidron Smith. First member of the Seminole Tribe to sign a scholarship with FSU.
Amari Wallace, Miami Central (5'10" 172) - Pure nickel/FS prospect that plays the game with the wisdom of Nelson Mandela. Four year starter & team captain at one of the best football programs in America. Instinctual coverage specialist with the flair for the big play. Plays fearless and will deliver a blow in run support. No track times but plays fast. Suffered a horrifiying compound fracture during a Central team scrimmage and missed his entire senior year. Will he be the same player post-injury? Miami signee.
Antonio Branch Jr., Miami Northwestern (6'2" 175) - Booker T transfer. Freakish combo of size and instincts. Flies to the ballcarrier like a Delta 717. Looks like an albatross in the centerfield. Best performances came during the West's state title run. Track background (51.93 400M.) Colorado signee.
Max Redmon, Cardinal Newman (6'1" 185) - Three sport athlete with great range and football IQ. Projects as a pure SS, potentially a weakside LB depending on how he fills out. Excels at stuffing gaps and blitzing the QB. Good in coverage with adequate agility. 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals a game on the court as a junior. 11.30 100M, 51.20 400M, 21'2" long jump. FSU signee.
Sekou Smith, Miami Central (6'1" 160) - Played varsity at Mater Academy in 8th grade. Two way star at both WR and FS. Speedy centerfielder with ballhawking ability. Defensive film full of picks and PBUs. Plays faster than track time (11.33 100M.) Skinny and will need some S&C before he hits the field. Mississippi State signee.
Tony Williams, Miami Central (6'1" 190) - Palm Beach Central transfer. Heatseeking agent of destruction that sends kids to the nurse's office with ease. Plays like a 6 foot Charles Oakley. 5 picks and 16 PBUs working at both CB and S as a junior. Former Junior Olympian and the foot speed translates on film. Great sideline to sideline speed. 7.26 60M as a sophomore. Also plays WR. UCF signee.
Xanai Scott, Cardinal Newman (5'10" 180) - Dwyer transfer. Ballhawking nickel/FS with great speed and range. Explosive RB/KR and could have been an FBS prospect on offense. 11.33 100M and 21'11" long jump. Brother, Xavier, was a Thorpe Award semifinalist at Illinois and one of the best defensive backs in college football. Illinois signee.
Jonathan Carter, Flanagan (6'1" 190) - Speedy ballhawk with devastating afterburners with the ball in his hands. Hard hitter in the run game. State qualifier in the hurdles. Claims 4.4 40 and 40 inch vertical. Father was an All-American sprinter at FSU. Sister runs track at USC. Eastern Michigan signee.
Damon Allen, West Boca (6'1" 185) - Bounced from Royal Palm Beach, to Palm Beach Central, to finishing at an emergent West Boca program. Explosive, physical DB who plays with his dreads on fire. 1 sack, 3 TFLs, 4 picks and 9 PBUs as a senior. Can play either CB or SAF at the next level. No track times but plays fast as ****. FAU signee.
Kelvin Reyes, West Broward (5'11" 168) - Rangy outfielder with great short-area quickness. 4 picks and 8 PBUs as a junior. Also plays baseball. FIU signee.
Jonathan Rousseau, Cardinal Gibbons (6'1" 180) - Monarch transfer. Physical box safety that closes out quick on receivers. Younger brother of Greg Rousseau. Buffalo signee.
Max Mustell, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'0" 170) - Rangy nickel/FS. Sticky in man coverage. Air Force signee.
Aaron Ford, West Boca (6'1" 185) - Wiry LB-SS hybrid that excels best moving forward and striking the ballcarrier. Alabama State signee.
Bryce Fitgerald, Columbus (6'0" 172) - Belen transfer. Basketball player turned elite ballhawk. Big time player that makes big time plays in big time moments. 10 picks (2 pick sixes) as a junior. 2 picks in state title game against Mandarin. Way faster than track times suggest (11.63 100M.)
