This is the worst year I can remember at wide receiver. Almost all the studs are in the loaded ’21 and ’23 classes. There is no local blue chip in the entire ’22 class, although I love the upside of Brown and Mortimer. For comparison, there were 8 blue-chip WRs in last year’s crop.

AJ Johnson, 6’2, 205 (Western)- Highly touted transfer from New Orleans. LSU decommit. Limited film in Florida but was highly productive catching passes from Arch Manning. College-ready size. Also plays basketball.

Devaughn Mortimer (Dillard)- One of my favorite players in the class. Elite returner with functional quickness. Track speed (10.7 100M). Has the coordination to extend and adjust to the ball. Highlight reel performance against St. Thomas. Fits the profile of many successful, smaller South Florida WRs. FSU commit.

Camden Brown, 6’3, 195 (St. Thomas)- Big-bodied, hard-working WR who keeps getting better. Looks the part of a high-end P5 WR physically. Basketball background. Hands, releases and overall game has taken a step forward as a senior. Will stretch out for balls and give up his body. High upside and trending up. Decommitted from Pitt.

Mike Jackson, 5’8, 150 (Palmetto)- Thinly built athlete with high-end game speed. More straight line than wiggle. Flashed ball skills at CB and may have higher upside there. Surprising pop as a tackler. Average hands on offense. Also returns kicks and punts. Recently decommitted from Appalachian State.

Benson Prosper, 5’8, 160 (Champagnat)- Good eye-hand coordination and will put his body on the line for catches. Plays inside and outside. Runs like a RB after the catch with lateral quicks and balance to shed tackles. Quicker than fast (11.81 100M). Arkansas State Commit.

Daverrick Jenkins, 6’2, 185 (Northwestern)- Former Hallandale QB who transferred to the West to replace Romello Brinson. Sharp cuts for a lankier player. Effective with the ball in his hands and has some PR ability. Combination of length and quickness gives him solid upside. Arkansas State commit.

Jalen Rogers, 5’11, 155 (Northwestern)- Speedy slot receiver who transferred to STA and then came back. 10.91 in the 100M and 21.94 in the 200M. Light on his feet and makes downhill cuts. Easy acceleration. Has room for physical development. CB is another option. Tulane commit.

Davon Kiser, 5’8, 160 (Gibbons)- Diminutive speedster. 10.65 in the 100M. Not a straight-line runner, has wiggle and balance. Can shed tackles for his size. Returns kicks and punts at high level. FCS offers.

Jaylan Sanchez, 6’1, 189 (STA)- Emerging player with solid build. Transfer from Jersey City. Returns kickoffs and punts. Not an electric athlete but adequate. Will finish runs with physicality. May have highest upside on defense. Offers from Army and UMass.

Matthew James,6’1, 165 (St. Andrew’s)- Do-it-all player for small school in Boca. Above-average length and ball skills. Highly productive against poor competition. Hands catcher. More coordinated than twitchy but has some ability after the catch. Nebraska offer.

Avari Marshall, 5’8, 155 (Goleman)- Underrated speedster who has made a ton of plays against small-school competition. All-Dade both ways. Also returns kicks. 10.85 speed in the 100M. He is getting lost in the shuffle at a school not known for football, but he is capable of helping an FBS team.

Zaylan Reese, 5’11, 190 (Central)- Strong-bodied wideout who made several timely plays as a senior. Hands-catcher who can absorb contact and break tackles. Not fast but productive after the catch as a high school player. Good feel for the position and has shown ability to separate against higher-end competition.

Besides Mortimer do you think Brown, Johnson, or Jackson are Miami caliber?

What ****es me off is none of these guys jump out as can't miss, gotta have prospects, yet in 5 years I am going to see one guy on this list making plays at some random school, go to the NFL, and look back and wonder how TF did we miss him?
and there will be multiple threads bemoaning our **** coaches for missing out on them.

Matthew James should’ve transferred to AH Delray & focused on becoming a CB or Safety.

His upside is best on Defense.

Are they students he’s trying to assist or is it because his program may not emphasize academics?

And are his schools legit?
He usually takes kids who are academically on the rocks to begin with, so that might have something to do with it.

As far as the legitimacy, I have heard some things, but I don’t want to disparage the brotha so, I’ll say just Idk 🤷🏽‍♂️...

He has kids from a bunch of different schools that attend his school to get grades correct.

Sometimes it could be hit or miss. Some have done a good job with it. He has a number in this class in his program..and i know Thai Jnes Bell went to his program and got into Bama.
