Starting with the 2017 class, I would go back to each position thread and do a review on each prospect after their 5th year of eligibility. For whatever reason, there was no South Florida '20, so I took it upon myself to find all the 2020 prospects that signed Division 1 letters of intent and review each of them.

QB

Katravis Marsh, Miami Central (6'5" 198) - Signed with USF

Michael Pratt, Deerfield Beach (6'2" 195) - Signed with Tulane

Edwin Rhodes, American Heritage (6'0" 185) - Signed with Tennessee State

RJ Rosales, Immokalee (5'7" 145) - Signed with Army

Kelvin Durham, South Dade (6'0" 180) - Signed with DII Fort Valley State.

Review: Tyler Van Dyke was not a bad pick as our QB for the class, and his career here started out great before things rapidly turned haywire. However, Michael Pratt was a huge miss. One of the best QBs in the country and drafted in the 7th round by Green Bay, currently with Tampa Bay.

Marsh was in line to be USF's starting QB but suffered a career-ending injury. Durham has been a good QB at the D2 level. Rhodes and Rosales didn't do anything.

RB

Jaylan Knighton, Deerfield Beach (5'9" 195) - Signed with Miami, transferred to SMU in 2023

Don Chaney, Belen Jesuit (5'10" 203) - Signed with Miami, transferred to Louisville in 2024

Henry Parrish, Columbus (5'10" 185) - Signed with Ole Miss, transferred to Miami in 2022, transferred back to Ole Miss in 2024

Frank Gore Jr., Killian (5'8" 170) - Signed with Southern Miss

Kejon Owens, Central (5'9" 165) - Signed with FIU

Nate Noel, Miami Northwestern (5'10" 170) - Signed with App State, transferred to Mizzou in 2024

Anton Hall, Gulliver (5'9" 180) - Signed with Navy

Aaron Adams, Suncoast (5'9" 165) - Signed with Army

Brian Brewton, St. Thomas Aquinas (5'7" 167) - Signed with UConn, transferred to Middle Tennessee St in 2024

Amin Hassan, Gulliver (5'6" 165) - Signed with Navy

Review: Frank Jr. was a really, really, really, really bad miss. EMBARRASSINGLY bad.

Beyond that, Chaney and Knighton was a good haul for us at the time. Chaney has had his career decimated by injury, while Knighton had some attitude problems. Both of them are likely training camp bodies barring disastrous testing numbers.

Nate Noel and Henry Parrish are both exceptional backs and 2025 NFL Draft prospects.

Anton Hall has been a productive back in the Navy triple option offense. Kejon Owens is a decent change-of-pace back at FIU. Brian Brewton was the best kick returner in America as a rFr but succumbed to injuries. Aaron Adams didn't do anything.

This was a really good year for running backs.

WR

Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'2" 195) - Signed with Georgia

Xzavier Henderson, Columbus (6'4" 200) - Signed with UF, transferred to Cincinnati in 2023

Thaiu Jones-Bell, Carol City (5'11" 187) - Signed with Alabama

Bryan Robinson, Palm Beach Central (6'1" 185) - Signed with FSU, transferred to Marshall in 2022

Marc Britt, Miami Christian (6'2" 190) - Signed with Ole Miss, left program in 2021, attended JUCO in 2022, transferred to Louisiana-Monroe in 2023

Kentron Poitier, Miami Palmetto (6'3" 205) - Signed with FSU

Elijah Canion, Chaminade Madonna (6'3" 190) - Signed with Auburn, transferred to Purdue in 2022, transferred to Liberty in 2024

Deajaun McDougle, Deerfield Beach (5'10" 175) - Signed with Maryland, transferred to Tulane in 2022, entered portal again, attended NAIA Graceland in 2024

Xavier Restrepo, St. Thomas Aquinas (5'9" 185) - Signed with Miami

Aydin Henningham, Deerfield Beach (6'1" 185)

Desna Washington, Glades Central (6'5" 200) - Did not academically qualify for FAU, attended JUCO, signed with New Mexico in 2023, transferred to FIU in 2024

Doug Emilien, American Heritage (6'0" 175) - Signed with Minnesota, transferred to Kansas in 2022

Damien Alford, McArthur (6'5" 210) - Signed with Syracuse, transferred to Utah in 2024

Ja'Vontae Williams, Glades Central (6'0" 195) - Signed with Syracuse

Gerand Turner, South Miami (5'11" 190) - Signed with Tennessee State

Teddy Richardson, Booker T (5'11" 170) - Signed with FiU

Andrew Henley, Hallandale (5'6" 145) - Signed with UT Martin

Macho Arza, Booker T (6'0" 185) - Signed with East Tennessee State

Trevon Sanders, South Dade (6'0" 160) - Signed with FAMU

Review: WOW! This class was a MEGA BUST, and at the time this was the most loaded receiver class South Florida had seen in years. All of these kids busted except Restrepo, Alford and Henderson.

I was shocked by Douglas Emilien and Bryan Robinson's lack of success. I watched both of them in high school and they were killing Power 5 defensive backs.

In a rare occurrence, Miami signed the best local receiver.

TE

Diego LaMonica, Gulliver (6'4" 225) - Signed with Vandy, entered portal in 2022, attended JUCO in 2023, current status unclea6

Jake Ray, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'4" 245) - Signed with Arizona State

Rivaldo Fairweather, Boyd Anderson (6'5" 210) - Signed with FIU, transferred to Auburn in 2023

Review: Rivaldo was a sleeper with great traits that was brought up on this board in high school. He was miles better than Dominic Mammarelli. The other two did nothing at the next level.

OL

Marcus Dumervil, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'5" 305) - Signed with LSU, transferred to Maryland in 2023, just entered portal again for last year of eligibility

Issiah Walker, Norland (6'4" 310) - Signed with UF, let out of NLI and came to Miami, left Miami, attended JUCO, not sure what happened but has bounced between Colorado, Texas State and West Florida since 2023

Jonathan Denis, South Dade (6'3" 280) - Signed with Oregon, transferred to Miami in 2022, transferred to Central Missouri in 2024

Marlon Martinez, St. Thomas Aquinas (6'4" 285) - Signed with LSU, transferred to Mississippi State in 2024

Willie Moise, Chaminade Madonna (6'3" 290) - did not academically qualify for Miami, signed with Coastal Carolina, transferred to UNC Pembroke

Gerald Mincey, Cardinal Gibbons (6'5" 320) - Signed with UF, transferred to Tennessee in 2022, transferred to Kentucky in 2024

Jose Mirabal, South Dade (6'4" 285) - Signed with FIU

Lloyd Willis, Killian (6'7" 310) - Signed with FSU, transferred to Marshall in 2023, entered portal again before 2024 but appears to have found no suitors

Khris Love, American Heritage (6'3" 315) - Signed with Maryland, transferred to Texas A&M-Commerce in 2024

Jovens Janvier, Edison (6'2" 350) - Did not academically qualify for UF, signed with Tennessee State, transferred to Edward Waters in 2023

Woody Jean, Deerfield Beach (6'4" 285) - Signed with Arizona, transferred to FAU in 2023

Patrick Barnett, Key West (6'6" 305) - Signed with UCF

Joseph Habinowski, Chaminade Madonna (6'4" 305) - Signed with Ohio

Andre Lamas, Columbus (6'3" 270) - Signed with FAU

Gage Gaynor, Douglas (6'3" 265) - Signed with Colorado State

Bryce McNair, Deerfield Beach (6'3" 275) - Signed with Ohio, transferred to Southern in 2022, transferred to Mercer in 2024

Hunter Zambrano, University School (6'5" 300) - Signed with Illinois State

Kevin Cline, Boca Raton Christian (6'7" 347) - Signed with BC

Review: This group was almost as bad as the receivers! Marlon Martinez, Gerald Mincey and Andre Lamas are serviceable. Bryce McNair, Khris Love and Hunter Zambrano are good offensive linemen at the FCS level. Willie Moise and Kevin Cline were starters but had their careers detailed by injuries. The rest are complete non-factors.

Thoughts? Opinions? Love it? Hate it?

Is Zambrano the best pro o line prospect at this point?

2019 - No QBs or RBs to note from.
WR - top guy was Frank Ladson with Zay Flowers getting away from us.
OL - No one good. Led by Dontae Lucas
DT - Only guy to make it was Cailjah Kancey. The rest were busts.
DE - Group led by Khris Bogle. All busts.
LB - Top guys were Aubrey Huff and Sam Brooks. Busts
DBs - They saved the year with Elam, Tyrique. Some decent players in Brownlee, Jaden Davis, Couch and Dent

I couldn’t find 2018 on here so I looked at 247 and that looks to be a very good bunch. One very good year out of 5 years for a supposedly hot bed of players is not good.

Way too early to tell on 23 and 24. Let’s look in 3 years.

This class was terrible outside of Pratt and Restrepo at Deerfield Beach.

Dumervil and Martinez looked the part but the OL resurgence turned out to be a mirage.

Moment of silence for Bryce Gowdy, a Deerfield Beach wide receiver who signed with Georgia Tech but took his own life on December 31st, 2019.

God bless his soul. Rest easy young brother.
Miss the kid dearly. Have his moniker tattood on my forearm. One of the best kids I've ever been around. I have zero doubts that he would have panned out.

I know it’s minor but Rosales has been playing for nationally ranked Virginia Union University. A D2 HBCU but it’s in a reserve role.
i played in that conference. when we played them one of pata's older brothers was a starting te/wr

union has always been solid.

i think they have 2 or 3 guys that maybe transferring up to power 5 of group of 5 teams this year
