South Florida '17- The Safeties

They have been the premier program in the state the last 5 years is probably a good start. It sucks but it's the truth.

We got a lot of work to do because of them

Richt gotta change that and NOW.
I hope so, but it's gonna be a full two probably three classes before we are on their level. It doesn't mean we can't beat them before that, but they are just better. Thankfully our 2014 class was good enough to just pull that off next year.

They are not on another level, Houston was no where near their level talent wise and they pushed Fsu around and one. Miami has held a lead in the 4th qtr the last 2 years against so they are not that much ahead of Miami tbh.

This was their rebuilding year and they still did all right. Next year they are loaded and if they figure out their QB situation they will contend. Their talent level is impressive and top 5 in the nation. Now just because of that it doesn't mean they are unbeatable it's just that their talent and depth is impressive. We are 2-3 full classes to being on their talent level.

Our quarterback already puts us on that level. The depth needs to be built up elsewhere but Kaaya is that much better than Maguire.

Way way better but I also don't expect Maguire to start. QB is the most important position and a major equalizer. **** I think our top 22 would rank in the top15 but it's what behind them right now that isn't up to par. We can't sustain Any major injuries and still not skip a beat and that is the difference.

That kid Terry from Dade Christian(I am class of 85) is no joke! I'll be keeping on eye on him. Not going to say who he reminds me of but I think this kid could be big-time.

Here are a few more guys who may not be UM players, but are talented prospects in their own right:

Marquis Waters
- 6'1, 190 (Atlantic via Village Academy)- Small school standout who just transferred to Delray Beach Atlantic. Smooth and elusive for his size. Already holds an offer from West Virginia.

MW2_ISLAND/SAUCE - Marquis Waters highlights - Hudl

Dedrick Mackey
- 5'11, 180 pounds (Booker T)- Physically strong defensive back who can tackle and cover. Looked sensational during Booker T's title run. Underrated.

DEDRICK "STICK TALK" MACKEY - Dedrick Mackey highlights - Hudl

Richard Dames- 5'11, 170 pounds (Booker T)- I don't know where Dames fits in at the next level, but he is a terror in high school. Very similar to Cedrick Wright- a linebacker in a corner's body. Racked up 128 tackles, 5 sacks and 3 INTs for the state champion Tornadoes. Fun to watch.

"21" X 100 - Richard Dames highlights - Hudl

Donelle Thomas- 5'11, 180 pounds (Carol City via American)- Well-put together box safety who can really tackle. Also an above-average athlete who plays some wide receiver. Transferring to Carol City along with teammate Naytron Culpepper.

SAVAGE9 - Donelle Thomas highlights - Hudl

Wright looks exactly like what Diaz wants at safety. Able to cover and be the centerfielder. Really hope we're in it for him, if we could somehow pull off ***an, Wright, and Gibson holy **** that's one **** of a class.

I think Daniel is major's younger brother

What's Daniel Wright's connection to FSU? He has 9 predictions to them on 247.

Good thing is it's an easy fix because Tallahassee is a long long fcking way from South Florida (about a 7 hour drive or more) and it's always a super expensive plane ticket from here. Makes it very tough for family to visit much. Tallahassee is more South Alabama than it is South Florida.

Agreed. The trenches is the question mark. I think we have enough on the DL and with some improvement from the OL we could get there in a hurry. Kaaya and Richt can play a huge part in our OL improving simply from play calling and decisions.

The way Diaz talks about speed and the old Miami model for success don't be surprised to see him take some of these bigger bodied Safeties and turn them into LBs like Miami used to do. Carter fits that bill.

I feel like Diaz is going to emphasize speed over anything else, and that's a big reason he's so South Florida-centric in his recruiting. He's going to want the fastest defense in college football, which is something he's never been able to build due to recruiting disadvantage.

True, can't wait to see what they put out on the field

Cyrus F'agan can do it all at safety. Daniel Wright is a better athlete. F'agan, I think, can come in and play right away. He diagnoses plays quickly on his HL tape.

Really good point on the part about Diaz recruiting efforts. Didn't even think about that. Seriously a trained donkey could probably win in this program if they recruit right.

Agreed and it's about time. I feel that many of us have been watching this program for the last 10 years at least just waiting for some genius to realize what they could build on defense with the local talent.
