South Florida '17- The CBs

DMoney 247 is now saying marco is 6'0. Do you know if that is legit?

crazy part is that 2018 class is more loaded with plus size dbs. Banda, Rumph, Diaz may have hit the jackpot...guys are going to be fighting to be in he class.

we need about 4 cbs in this class...and we got 2 committed already.

Speaking of plus-sized DBs, did you see the pics of Jobe and Frierson? Jesucristo, those 2 dudes are already gigantic, and they haven't even played their junior season. They looked like 20 year old men. All the growth hormone they pump into chicken and beef is turning kids into monsters.
yea I believe they're both 6'2 if I ain't mistaken

@DMoney 247 is now saying marco is 6'0. Do you know if that is legit?

Wouldn't doubt it. His brother is a big guy.

Here's the thing with that. Al Blades Jr is about 6'0" and Marco is shorter.

If Marco is 6'0" then Al Blades Jr. is 6'2". (Joking)

Positive that number is incorrect as far as I know.

Same goes for some sites and people listing Surtain Jr. 6'2" in 2018. I've seen both him and Blades standing next to each other. If anything, Surtain is a hair taller than Blades.

Heights and weights get inflated all the time.

Both are about 6'1".

Jobe is actually supposed to be class of 2017. He made sophomore all-American list this past season with Samuel Jr. & Surtain Jr.

Jobe and Frierson skillsets are maximized by playing safety. They can play corner and nickel too but I feel you limit the elite range they possess by putting them at corner. They play all over the field for their HS's but best position is safety for both to maximize results.

Add Tyson Campbell and you've got the Holy Trinity of freakishly tall abnormally fast man-child corners.

He might have hit a growth spurt? They had him at 5'10 up to a couple a weeks ago but it updated him to 6'0.

They measure at the opening regionals so it will be interesting to see how they weigh in and measure out.

Yup..and Campbell was always a wr...just made the switch to cb. He is a legit 6'2

I agree but think both could still be big time at cb. Like ramsey, I think he is better at safety because his ability to play deep, come down in the box, and blitz from the nickel. He was able to dominate games much more being a roming safety.

But he was a **** good corner last year too and not many qbs outside of kaaya threw at him.

Campbell is AH best DB. IMO.

Surtain Jr. is no slouch at all. He's an elite corner but I just think Campbell is better.

Yeah, no doubt they can play corner too. Just their mentality and the play style would be more effective at safety. Jobe hates playing corner because it's only covering one side of the field, he wants to be in the action of everything. He likes to roam, that's Gilbert type of game too.

You land a group of 2-3 in 2018 at corner between Campbell, Blades Jr and Samuel Jr. They give you the luxury to have Jobe and Frierson roam the field at safety.

While I think Jobe and Frierson can play corner too, the best jumbo size corner I would give to Tyson Campbell. While Jobe and Frierson fit better at safety than Campbell.

I like Jalen Patterson as a nickel/safety type.

I don't expect Patterson to stick with Miami though. He made it clear even from the moment Miami offered and he committed. That he was waiting on FSU.

Thomas Burns I am not sold on at all. Outside of track, he hasn't proven himself. The best DB on his team is a kid in the same class year by the name of Trenell Troutman(was a legend for Libert City optomist)

Sometimes I think it'd be easier to list the local players who aren't D1 caliber....

The 3 Florida teams (but especially Miami) should always be ranked in the top 10 nationally for pass defense - when they aren't something is wrong....

DMoney knows where I stand in regards to the corners.

I've had Shawn Davis very high on my list since last spring. I believe he's the best corner in the tri-county area.

Stanford Samuels has done a 180 in regards to my opinion on him. He definitely made a jump between sophomore and junior year. He would be 2nd best at CB in tri-county for me. A year ago he would have been lower on this list for me.

Brini at 3rd.

Henderson 4th. (Mainly due to not playing the position as much as the others but has incredible ceiling)

5th would be Bandy (Bandy is the best nickel on the list though. That's for sure. You need nickels in college football now.)

Marco gets a bump to 6th for me but can jump up back with a rebound year. Love his speed and athleticism. The injury is not the issue, it's the fact he was a situational player as a sophomore when he did play. (NOTE: I have Waynmon Steed as the 2nd best LB prospect in the tri-county. He was a full-time starter as a sophomore. That's why I'm more harsh on Marco)

My guy to watch out for and DMoney is high on him too. Is George Hunter out of Atlantic HS(Same school Rumph attended). Hunter plays safety but me and DMoney prefer him at corner. Really hope Miami takes a look at him.

It's still way too early for 2018, but if Miami can walk out of 2018 with 2-3 of Campbell, Blades, Samuel at corner and Jobe and Frierson at safety. That's the best DB class in the country.

This not including one of the best athletes regardless of position in Dominick Watt from McArthur in 2018. Who could be a Receiver or Safety on the next level.

I don't expect Surtain Jr. to come regardless of Surtain Sr. and Rumph being friends. His dad been pushing the LSU envelope with his son for quite some time now. (Sr. is from Louisiana and always wanted to go to LSU)

Tyson Campbell is a problem!.

At his height he is fluid as ****..and physical likes to hit...add to it he was mainly a wr....gives him added ball skills.

If u watched AH play...Campbell stick out in a loaded db backfield...Surtaint is a good player..but Campbell flat out looked better when I saw them play. Campbell reminds of the kid that played cb for the dolphins and now is wth the chiefs...he had no hands but always stuck on a wr like glue. Smith I think was his last name...He is in the Antonio Cromartie type as well as a cb.

2018 will be interesting...Artie lil bro is going to have to show up foreal..because that class dbs are already better than the 2017 kids imo. Lot of those kids wold be takes in the 2016 class right now as they are physically ready

'17 class is looooaded. Wanna know what's scarier? The '18 crop may be even better...

Think 2018 crop is better. 2017 is nice at DB but 2018 looks more top heavy loaded. 2018 we will get ours at DB again but there will be some who just get away simply due to numbers.

Yes.

Unbelievable that those 3 have 2 more years of HS before they get on a college campus. I'm more impressed with each of their Sophomore films (paired with their physical makeup/potential) than almost any of the DBs we were in the mix for for 2016 and 2017. And that's comparing SO film to JR and SR film!

Also true, as good as he is at DB, Lil cuz is probably better with the ball in his hands. Kid has a nose for the end zone, and anyone who saw or played against him at West Miramar knows it, ask Nayquan Wright & dem cats. One thing I do wonder though is if he'll wind up outgrowing the position because nobody in his house is shorter than six feet tall. If he ends up 6'5"+ like he very well could, a move back to wr or even olb would not be far fetched.
