Some quick thoughts on Miami's, 42-14 victory over Wake Forest..

- Miami is now 10-1, a marked improvement for Mario Cristobal in year 3 of his reign. But for some reason, many UM fans dont feel euphoric because you wonder if this team is really getting better and evolving as the season goes on. But... 10-1 is 10-1 and they are one game from going to the ACC title game

That is progress no matter how you look at it. Personally, as frustrated as I was earlier watching this game )which at times was a slog) I'm going to enjoy it-- Ive been through too many bad seasons not to)

- Miami's defense struggled early and then to their credit, played well the last 2-and-a-half quarters. Still need faster and smarter players on the back end. But again, they really gave up just 7 points, and created a pick six with Powell

- Cam Ward has been great for this program, but again, still needs to be more consistent in taking the routine play. This is not a knock, but just an observation. I know how much he's meant to the '24 Canes

- Special teams is bad. It's clear they dont put much emphasis on this aspect of the game. Where have you gone Don Soldinger?

- 'Ground' Jordan Lyle should play a bigger role moving forward. He just has that spark and break away speed. He's quicker than Fletcher, and hits the hole faster than Martinez

- Today showed how under-used Elijah Arroyo is on most weeks. With all the cover-2 Miami sees, he should be a a guy that kills defenses in the middle of the field and the seams

- So does Damari Brown do more than just warm up next week?

- OK, next week Miami goes up to the Dome. That will be a battle. Fran Brown and the Cuse will treat that as their Super Bowl and the Orange offense is good enough to give Miami a lot of issues defensively

I feel like Arroyo should have caught that pass down middle from ward that was a little behind him. Arroyo is as athletic as Winslow and needs to get more opportunities in this offense. I agree.

Don't disagree with any of this. WE need to treat the Syracuse game as our own Super Bowl.

And, whatever Guidry and his staff need to do to get on the same page, they need to do that this week. Us going to 11-1 AND making it to the ACCCHGM is soooo big for our team. Even with the bionic recruiter that Mario is, this is the kind of success that is the difference between a top HS kid or transfer choosing to come to the U.

Cane Nation needs a win next week. Let's go!!

Lots of blinders and subjective analysis. I could care less if this team is 10-1 because the schedule is super weak. This is NOT a good team and without Cam we are below .500. For us to win to Cam must play smarter and take what the defense gives him. He certainly makes some very stupid plays that costs us dearly. The defense played well in the second half but why not the entire game. Wake Forest is an absolutely horrific team that we struggled putting them away.

The defense played well for 85% of its drives.
