Our best pass rusher in the summer scrimmages was Holliet .Did he make the trip or is he hurt?He had multiple sacks in our last two scrimmages and looked good in spring.Also where is Robert Lockhart?
 
DMoney - I am in NYC so never got the chance to see Duke play a full game in HS, you were right. Duke is a playmaker. For me his best play of the game was the 4th and 1 run in the 1st qtr, gave me goosebumps; he plays with no fear. I also liked the fact that if you did not make plays, he took you out and put someone else in.
 
Well said DMoney!!!! I really hope Coach D stops with some of these stunting bull**** on every play,put in 4 defensive ends and just flat out speed rush the qb on some 3rd and longs.

I think the offense was more uptempo than last year and it seems Morris is comfortable in the no huddle.

The Defense did cause 3 turnovers but we have to remember they caused 6 fumbles! That's an incredible difference from last year.

I didn't see either. Herb Waters played a couple snaps.
 
I like the observations, but I disagree aboiut the TE's. For whatever reason, Fisch did not try and attack the middle of the fiel consistently. Walford and Cleveland are plus athletes with good size, and considering all the talk about how he was going to use them, there was none of it yesterday.

All in all, I'm pleased wit what I saw from the offense; I think Fisch gets too cute at times (1st and goal WR screen to Dorsett that was thrown late and almost pick 6'd for example), and he needs to get the run game established a little earlier. Duke obviously was the star yesterday, but I thought James ran well when he got his touches. No more outside sweeps with him, pound between the tackles.

All I can say about the D is its a work that's in progress, and a pass rusher or 2 needs to be found. Looks like the Luther Robinson talk wasn't hype; he played pretty well. We've got 2 vintage Cane LB's in Perryman and Johnson; we need to find a couple more.

Good way to start the season; on to Manhattan , Kansas!!!!!

I thought he played well yesterday. Seemed to always have good coverage and he looks reallllllllly fast. Even McGee showed a pulse yesterday. Would really help the defensive scheme if he plays up to his athletic ability and becomes a quality cover guy. His run support was very good.

Our lack of a pass rush is a appalling.

Defensively every single coach **** the bed.
 
One thing I noticed that helped BC a lot as far as pass pro was how fast they would lined up and then quick snap , our defensive line was never set when they did this . I'm sure with our youthful D we will see this for a while .

a couple more Observations..

The MIAMI crowd was tremendous. At least 7-9K faithful in the joint and were loud. Especially when DP had the pick 6. I had BC people come up to me and Kept saying - I've never seen this many Miami people before here.

For the game - guys that our upperclassmen that need to play up to the hype they were given are VT and Cookie... out of Position, bad angles and bad tacklers. Eddie Johnson and Deon Bush should be starters by ND game.

Why does everyone's TE seem like they are always open against us?

We Are CAUSING turnovers again. Something thats been sorely lacking for the past years.

The offense was solid. Morris will be a very very good QB with his accuracy. Needs to learn how to throw the deep ball as he should've put more air in the bomb to Dorsett.

It looks like no one will keep deep to us anymore.

Our freshman are playmakers period.

Clock management in first 10 min of 4th qtr was questionable but hope its not a trend.

Try to hook up with D$ but we couldn't make it happen but I did get a chance to meet the lovely Jen Urs...
