Its right for kids to check out their opportunities. I see no problem with it. It will be fierce competition at LB in the next 2/3 years. I believe competition makes everyone better but that is not for everyone

It's right for kids to check out their opportunities BEFORE they commit. After they commit, they shouldn't be checking out **** but how they can help the program they committed to.
Sad to see adults encouraging kids to develop bad habits. Learn early about commitment and loyalty. If you don't like the place you're committed to or don't trust their commitment to you, then do the right thing and de-commit.
I smell ya, and I'm sure the next time he gives a commitment to somebody, he will understand that circumstances change that may render that commitment null and void. I for one will defend what ever decision he makes as long as he feels it was in the best interests for him and his goals in life. If you feel so strongly about your opinion then you should probably petition the NCAA to make those verbal commitments LOI's. Then that would hold staffs to honoring commitments from guys like Tyler Dunning even if the new staff doesn't feel that he is the caliber of player they are looking for. I get it though, you are just a true UM fan that probably never had to make these same decisions as an 16 or 17 year old young man. I guess you also feel that once they get a verbal from their guy that they shouldn't send any offers to any other kids that play that same position right?
Lots of bad assumptions there. If he's committed, then looking around is shady. If a HC makes a solid offer to a player and then dumps him for football reasons, then he's a scumbag too. Pretty simple concept, but I understand that people like to try to justify their shady actions by pointing the finger at others.
You bring up Dunning as if that has anything to do with anything. Richt never offered Dunning. Dunning has a whole year to find another school. If Richt confirmed Steed's offer, and Steed committed or re-affirmed his commitment to Richt, then he's shady for snooping around for a "better" offer.
If Richt told him that he's the only LB he will sign, and he offers someone else, then Richt is shady, and Steed should de-commit or look around. I doubt that's what happened though.
These are all simple concepts. There's right and wrong. Just because people are trying to suck up to recruits and their families doesn't mean that they can do no wrong.
