Some Recruiting News

Its right for kids to check out their opportunities. I see no problem with it. It will be fierce competition at LB in the next 2/3 years. I believe competition makes everyone better but that is not for everyone

It's right for kids to check out their opportunities BEFORE they commit. After they commit, they shouldn't be checking out **** but how they can help the program they committed to.

Sad to see adults encouraging kids to develop bad habits. Learn early about commitment and loyalty. If you don't like the place you're committed to or don't trust their commitment to you, then do the right thing and de-commit.
Yea I'll quit my job before I find another one. It is what it is.

What about a case like Nick... Wants UM committed, but now is being slow played... What would you advise him to do?
He should take trips that's what I would do but I'm with chise. If a schools still actively recruiting and not slow playing you and you're committed to them then you don't do it unless there's a coaching change.

It goes both ways. That's simply what it is. Schools drop kids on signing day when someone higher rated commit.

That's covered by "if you don't trust their commitment to you." If UM has made it clear that they're not committed to him (I have no idea if that's the case or not because I don't know any of the communications between them), then Nick should do whatever he needs to do. If a school legit isn't committed to a player, then it's not even a real offer, and his recruitment is actually wide open.

It's scumbag stuff. I don't expect everyone to get. In today's world, shysters are celebrated.

I smell ya, and I'm sure the next time he gives a commitment to somebody, he will understand that circumstances change that may render that commitment null and void. I for one will defend what ever decision he makes as long as he feels it was in the best interests for him and his goals in life. If you feel so strongly about your opinion then you should probably petition the NCAA to make those verbal commitments LOI's. Then that would hold staffs to honoring commitments from guys like Tyler Dunning even if the new staff doesn't feel that he is the caliber of player they are looking for. I get it though, you are just a true UM fan that probably never had to make these same decisions as an 16 or 17 year old young man. I guess you also feel that once they get a verbal from their guy that they shouldn't send any offers to any other kids that play that same position right?

Lots of bad assumptions there. If he's committed, then looking around is shady. If a HC makes a solid offer to a player and then dumps him for football reasons, then he's a scumbag too. Pretty simple concept, but I understand that people like to try to justify their shady actions by pointing the finger at others.

You bring up Dunning as if that has anything to do with anything. Richt never offered Dunning. Dunning has a whole year to find another school. If Richt confirmed Steed's offer, and Steed committed or re-affirmed his commitment to Richt, then he's shady for snooping around for a "better" offer.

If Richt told him that he's the only LB he will sign, and he offers someone else, then Richt is shady, and Steed should de-commit or look around. I doubt that's what happened though.

These are all simple concepts. There's right and wrong. Just because people are trying to suck up to recruits and their families doesn't mean that they can do no wrong.

Didn't he have a couple opportunities to visit with the new staff and chose a camp and a track meet? Is he invited to the spring game? Is he coming?

Waynejr31, continue to guide your son through this process. I help local students find homes on the next level as well and believe me its an ugly game. A lot of people don't realize what exists regarding recruiting. For kids 18 and under its an overwhelming process. You're doing tge right thing. Continue to keep him grounded. Good luck to you and your son this upcoming football season.

Track meet... before that he got the word that he will be re-evaluated... Miss St just offered him the other day... and yes he will be with me at the Spring Game

At the end of the day to stop all this I think everyone needs to slow the process down. **** you have kids committing 3 years before their signing date. I think the NCAA should change it to not allow universities to accept commitments until the August 1st date has passed of their senior year right before the football season starts. That would stop most of the silly decommitments because by that time a kid can know for sure where they really want to go and stop the indecisiveness

Hope he decides to stay. Need reinforcements in that spot.

Nick Roberts want nothing more than to play at UM with Darrion and Shaq from his school and Pinkney from his 7 on 7 team... but he is being slow played by UM and now everybody and their brother is showing him love... UCLA was his last offer... A bird in hand is better than two in the bush

yu need to let the coaches know when u get a chance to man... I like his game...would love to keep him on the squad regardless who were after

I hope for both parties sake dat things get resolved when he attends da Spring game. 6 or 7 months from now UM may regret slow playing dis mane.

That's my plan... I want him at UM and he is now starting to get that love from other schools... Miss State, UCLA, Pitt all have made plans to come and talk with him in the next couple of weeks... His coaches are doing the right thing and pushing him to the love that is shown... I can't wait for him to get down there and work out with the other recruited corners... Dude is a baller and will rise to his competition... not shy away... but UM is starting to loose him by allowing other schools to woo him ... Its hard for him to get down there so I will bring him every chance I get... but I want what is best for the kid... He is strong benches and cleans over 300 at 170lbs... Not super fast but he will roll out of bed and run a low 4.5... but his gift is a natural instinct for the ball... you can't coach that... it just like you can't coach a RB to have good vision... you can improve upon it but can't teach it.

Shawn Davis a goner IMO. ****! He's too familiar with many or our commits and the program. Sounds like his head in gatesville for whatever reason.

Slaton too slow for defense, but tell him yes, redshirt him and when he realizes that he's no collegiate DT then move him back to guard.

Brini got me worried too. Like Davis he seems to be a gatesville lean. ****! I thought we'd beat them for SOFL guys and **** if they ain't in position to snatch 2 best CB's and OLinemen in SOFL. ****! ****! ****!

Don't waste time on Herbert he might as well move into gatesville dorm.

Exactly....that's why I said....while Henderson claims hes waiting to see our season.....he better hope we still have an opening for him once we start winning....it's a two way game highly rated players will see our secondary needs help. If we reach the ACC championship game I wouldn't be shocked to see us land a 5* college ready CB late in the process.
