just to add to 252cane post Waynmon Steed is also feeling Texas and apparently his dad lives out there.

Even though Nick Roberts is a unknown in this class, his pledge is still solid

Burney, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety that came out on top and won positional MVP honors at this weekend's Big County Preps E-7 Training Camp, is also fresh off attending the University of Florida's spring game festivities inside the Swamp.
Burney recaps his recent stay with the Gators, talks about his early interest in Mark Richt's program at Miami (Fl), why Alabama was the dream school growing up, and more in the video at the top of the page.

Also we can officially add Todd Harris to our prospect board

Head coach Mark Richt is personally handling Harris' (6-0, 180) recruitment and that has him more than curious about stepping foot in Coral Gables.

"I haven't heard from Coach Richt for maybe a month but we've talked about certain things," Harris said. "I touched base to see if I still had the offer and he said I did for sure. They're definitely a school I want to check out so that visit will probably be this summer. I'm interested in seeing the campus, the city, and meeting the staff. I'll find out about who's leaving before I would be coming in."

Running through the pros and cons is very common evaluation method among prospects. Harris has done just that in examining the Hurricanes.

"It's nice weather out there, the 'U' has good football tradition, and a good group of coaches," Harris said. "They send guys to the league basically every year so all of those are positives. Negatives, I'm not too sure, I don't see any with their program right now. Miami is nothing but positives, at least in my view."

Harris has ten other BCS offers and it's an impressive list of Arizona State, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. A few have peaked his interest but that won't solidify until later.

"It's not so much of a top three with LSU, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State, but they're the coolest ones," Harris said. "I should get to see Ole Miss in June for the first time but that only came up because I'm already attending the Elite 150 Camp in Oxford. Other than that, I want to visit Alabama, maybe Tennessee, TCU, Florida, Miami, and Florida State. I'm not too sure on dates but some of those will happen because I'm in that state for another reason."

Harris has taken nine unofficials to see the Tigers, plus single trips to Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State. Proximity is on his mind but not as the number one factor.

"I'm making sure I have a good relationship with the coaches and somewhere that I'm comfortable," Harris said. "Playing time is a major thing, I want to get out there early and not be that guy sitting the bench for two years. My family travels a lot so that's something I have no problem with. Then again, it would be nice to have my parents watching games and make it easier on them."

Typical post commitment pre summer "feeling other schools" talk. Some of it may be legit, most of it is playing the game to not miss out on taking some trips.

A Suprising edition about Mike Harley per 247:

Wide receiver Mike Harley (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) said Miami still has the edge.

"They are still pushing," Harley said. "They are keeping interest in me throughout the season. There's still a place in my heart for them."

Harley also lists high interest in Wisconsin and Utah and said he plans to make a commitment at the end of May.

He's been in touch with Badgers area recruiter Inoke Breckterfield and Utah area recruiter Dennis Erickson.

"Those are some cool guys," Harley said. "Some real cool cats."

The Crystal Ball reads 100-percent for Miami.

Syracuse and Missouri are also schools Harley mentioned he's been talking with.

He said he would take an official visits to Wisconsin in the fall.

That's the first time I heard that about Slaton

These little recruiting updates from 247 never sound good for us

But I thought Slaton wasn't coming here because Rumph can't recruit? If he actually wants to play DT, we don't seem to have much room for a Nose Tackle...

I'm sure all the recruits are aware of the Commit/Decommit before your senior season rule in South Florida. They'll commit somewhere probably May/June and the open their recruitment back up right before football season starts.

Can Steed's dad fill us in on the LSU interest?

LSU has been selling him on the opportunity of coming in and playing as a true freshman. They don't have any LB's after converting to a 3-4 defense. They currently have a true freshman starting at LB, two converted DE's, and a Senior. He is still committed and says he is just mainly focusing on having a great senior campaign. I was the one that actually thought he should visit those campuses to have something to compare to Miami.

How bout Texas?? What are they selling him??

Hate when kids "commit" and then start the recruitment process. We really need to get away from accepting those kind of commitments in the future because we always get burned. I love Clemson's approach where once you commit, they pull your offer if you take visits.

He does not hold an offer from Texas, we were there for Texas relays and decided to take an unofficial visit to check out their facilities. They haven't tried to sell him on anything but they do have some nice facilities. Nothing more to that story.
