Some positives to Golden staying

My take, if he was offered the job and didn't take it...he really can't say that as the taker will know he is not #1. If he didn't make the cut, and he doesn't admit it...it will come out later and he will look like a jerk. A perhaps more feasible explanation is that all the candidates were asked if we offer the position would you take it - and he said no, because that would also come out later... and he didn't feel he would be first choice. Regardless he's here now, his team his staff it's up to him to make this thing work.

Will note however that if Butch had been offered I would be very happy with that, and would have considered that an upgrade. If next year is another bust - perhaps Butch will be offered but I doubt we can afford the buy out go Goldie.

WTF is positive about a dude that was trying his best to GTFO returning with one of the worst staffs know to football?
 
he turned psu down a few years ago. He obviously turned them down again because his statement sounds like he pulled himself out of any contention. The PSU almuni actually want him. Everyone forgets in his opening press conference here he said "I was always amazed how no coach stayed here more than 5 years. i want to change that" He always said he wanted to be here long term. Also, coach d said "Played for penn state but I was a miami fan. i just wasnt fasted enough to get offered"
That being said, I want to win and win now. i was very ****ed because i thought he was gone. However, we have to hope for the best now which starts by closing this great 2014 class out.

golden makes the depth chart and its his defense. they were passive because they were too loyal to seniors they didnt trust. they are young coaches who screwed up.
Al in the post-louisville press conference basically conceded his seniors sucked and we literally have no juniors because of 2011 class.

Anyway, here are some positives.

The senior class is gone.
He recruits very well. I think he still goes after dixon and sony until signing day.
He has shown he can develop talented kids like streeter, jacory (turned him around), duke, coley, mccord, tracy, etc. I think aqm, bush, carter, grace, etc will make a huge jump.
He wants to be here.
2014 class is deep.

Negatives
he has to win big games.
Coach D needs to prove himself this year or axe him.
